The first season of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power ended in 2022. After a brief hiatus, the show is set to return with its second installment on August 29, 2024. The series is adapted from the Lord of The Rings books authored by J.R.R. Tolkien between 1954 and 1955.

The show tells the story of a kingdom where sorcery is abundant, and it is in every living thing as a part of their being. The literature (and films) have brought to life unforgettable figures such as Gandalf, Gollum, Galadriel, Saruman, and Frodo Baggins, to mention a few. All these remain in the memories of fans who are looking forward to Prime Video's version of their beloved characters.

Another iconic elf, Elrond, is played by Robert Aramayo, the Game of Thrones alumnus. Reigning from a powerful heritage with a name to live up to, Elrond pours his heart and soul during missions. Like his legendary father, Earendil, he's prudent and passionate about maintaining peace and balance.

Furthermore, Elrond is indulged in politics and eagerly looks to help in the kingdom of Lindon. The upcoming season of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will unravel more about his character.

3) Cynthia Addai-Robinson as 'Tar-Miriel'

While Durin IV is a fighter, he's also a lover of his darling wife, Disa, played by Sophia Nomvete. There's nothing he wouldn't do for the love of his life, as she is, perhaps the bane of his existence. Season 2 will explore more about their relationship and Durin IV's fate after the formation of the rings.

5) Ismael Cruz Cordova as 'Arondir'

Ismail Cruz plays Silvan elf Arondir, a guard of the kingdom who patrols the Southlands to safeguard the inhabiting humans. Arondir's most noteworthy feature is his exceptional skill with archery.

Despite being underestimated in season 1, Arondir has proved his worth and relevance to the storyline. He is romantically involved with Bronwyn, a human from the Southlands. Since his laws prevent him from pursuing such an ordeal, season 2 will explore their storyline a little more.

6) Nazanin Boniadi as 'Bronwyn'

Meeting Arondir changes her perception of elves. She is drawn to his kindness and bravery.

7) Benjamin Walker as 'Gil-galad'

Veteran actor Benjamin Walker plays the king of elves and Gil-Gildad in Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Renowned for his role in Jessica Jones, Walker's character is often draped in gold and always carries a spear-of-sorts. Although he's a man of few words, Gil-Gildad never minces his words and is swift in judgment.

Gil-Gildad is dedicated to preserving peace in his kingdom no matter the cost. As a king, he has the acute skill of foretelling a situation in front of him. Not only would he be able to explain the aftermath but also suggest a practical solution to tackle an issue.

8) Daniel Weyman as 'The Stranger'

Season 1's most baffling character in Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is 'The Stranger' - played by Daniel Weyman. Many speculate that this mysterious character with powerful abilities may be Gandalf. However, his true identity remains under wraps.

This wayward stranger caused quite a kerfuffle after crashing Middle-Earth via a meteor. Although he doesn't talk much, the stranger plays a crucial role in season 1. Season 2 will hopefully shed more light on who he is.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power fans were left dumbstruck when Sauron was revealed in the finale of season 1. Before being discovered, Sauron was formerly known as Halbrand and is played by Charles Vickers. The same actor is set to reprise his role under the aforementioned name.

Vicker's character had the fandom, and Galadriel fooled the entire time, playing an entirely different person. However, now that things are out in the open, more about Sauron's character and schemes will unfurl in season 2.

Celebrimbor is responsible for the creation of the unique Silmarils and was unfortunately coerced into concocting the rings of powers under Sauron's influence and magic. The upcoming season will most likely feature Celebrimbor facing the aftermath of his decisions.
