Lizzy Greene is Lauren Brigman in Netflix’s Ransom Canyon. You probably remember her as Dawn Harper if you grew up watching Nickelodeon. She was the only sister in the sibling quartet from Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn. That show ran from 2014 to 2018 and made Lizzy a popular name among teen viewers.
She is known to play Sophie Dixon on ABC’s A Million Little Things after that. She’s also been nominated for multiple Kids' Choice Awards and even got a Young Artist Award nomination in 2016.
Lizzy Greene is now back with a whole new vibe in Ransom Canyon. It is a romantic western drama that’s all about family legacies and land wars mixed with love in unexpected places. It shows these ranching families who have to deal with outsiders wanting to take over their land.
Lauren Brigman is a high school cheerleader who’s got big dreams beyond Ransom Canyon. She’s caught in a complicated love triangle. She's dating one guy and harboring feelings for another.
Let's get to know a bit more about Lizzy and her character in Ransom Canyon.
Lizzy Greene gets real about her character and growing up in the industry
Lizzy Greene recently had a chat with Haute Living. She opened up all about the things that came with playing Lauren Brigman in Ransom Canyon. Her character's complicated love triangle has fans hooked.
Lauren finds herself in a tough spot. She is torn between her relationship with Reid and a pull she feels toward another guy. Greene explains how that plays out on screen:
"I think Reid has always been a safe bet – her family loves him, he’s the QB while she’s head cheerleader – everything on paper make’s sense. The introduction of Lucas opens up an opportunity for her to choose something that feels right for her. I think both boys bring out something in her, whether it’s working hard, or chasing her dreams. I trust her judgement on who she believes is the best fit for her – so you will have to wait and see!"
But family plays a huge role too in Lauren’s story. This is what Lizzy Greene had to say when asked about her character’s bond with her father:
"I believe her dad truly wants the best for her, but his idea of what’s “best” gets lost with what he thinks is most right. And that is staying home in Ransom to take care of her alcoholic mother. Because her dad gives her these ultimatums in exchange for her to achieve her goals, it breeds this rebellious energy in her (as every teenager has) to go against the grain. She does that with her relationship with Lucas, her cheerleading, and even her view on her mom. It’s all in constant flux throughout the show. At the end of the day, she is very grounded in her dreams to achieve more than what this town can offer."
The interview got into Lizzy’s own journey from child actor to now. She explained that her approach to acting has changed over the years. Lizzy Greene also shares that now she is able to tap into her personal growth and apply it to her work in a way she couldn’t as a kid.
Did Lizzy Greene do her own stunts on Ransom Canyon?
Lizzy Greene has been doing gymnastics for quite some time now. She grew up doing it. She shared in the interview:
"I grew up doing gymnastics so when I got the audition I swore I was going to relearn and polish all my old skills. I was in the cheerleading gym every day I wasn’t working because it was so much fun. I learned from the local girls in New Mexico which was really sweet. I had everything down to do all my stunts… until I fractured my knee in practice. Then they had to use a stunt double for everything afterwards. It sucked because I was really egar to do it and had spent so much time practicing!"
Stunts are fun, but sometimes the real action happens behind the scenes. Lizzy Greene was asked about "the most chaotic or hilarious" moment she’s experienced on set in the Netflix show. And that's when she shared a story:
"Poor Garrett and his skinny-dipping scene. In the original script, it was Lauren and Lucas skinny dipping, but I told them that I respectfully was not going to do that – LOL! Garrett had to go at it all alone, and the water was freezing. At one point they gave him a flesh-colored wetsuit, but it was too big and did not help at all! The minute they called cut, we had so much fun running to the inflatable hot tub that they had for him off-screen. He was such a trooper and professional and that scene is so great because of it."
Lizzy Greene definitely brings a whole lot of heart to Ransom Canyon and makes her role unforgettable.
