What happened previously in Law & Order Season 25?
In the Law & Order Season 25 fall finale episode titled ‘Parasite’, a rich CEO and owner of a famous toy company, Bob Gladstone, is found murdered. The incident takes place the night before his wedding. His young fiancée, Chloe, finds him in the room. The detectives learn that Bob’s will explicitly states that his estate will go to his wife if he is married, if not, it will be equally divided among his children.
Their significant age gap becomes a point of conversation as Bob’s daughter, Amanda, and son-in-law, Derek Nestor, emphasize that Chloe is a gold-digger. In fact, Derek had even got a private investigator to look into Chloe’s past, which revealed that she was previously an escort and had a money issue.
As the investigations go on, it comes to light that Bob and Chloe had gotten married months ago. The information shocks everyone, especially Amanda, who now stands to lose everything because of the will.
The investigative team will find the murder weapon in Chloe’s room, to her shock. She is charged with the crime and arrested. As the trial starts, Chloe's intentions to marry Bob are put under the spotlight. But Chloe gives a heartfelt account about her history, which she insists Bob knew about. She also shares that she had genuine affection for the man, and it had nothing to do with money. Her moving account impresses everyone.
Amanda continues to focus on Chloe being a gold-digger. Things take a turn when it becomes clear that Derek lied about his whereabouts. Charges against Chloe are dropped, and Derek becomes the main suspect.
