"It's slow and boring": Love on the Spectrum star Tanner shares his thoughts about Chess with Shyann during their first date

Netflix's Love on the Spectrum Season 3 aired its third episode on April 2, 2025. It featured cast members, including Tanner, who was getting ready for his blind date. It was with Shyann at the goat farm.

During his date with Shyann, when Tanner asked her what she didn't like to do, she mentioned she didn't like to run. Listening to her, Tanner shared his dislikings:

"I'll tell you what I don't like to do. I don't like to wakeboard. I don't like to water ski. I don't like to snow ski. I don't like to play football. I don't like to play chess."

However, when she said she finds chess to be "fun," Love on the Spectrum star Tanner responded:

"I think it's slow and boring."

Love on the Spectrum Season 3 Episode 3: Tanner's blind date with Shyann at the goat farm

The third episode of Love on the Spectrum featured a blind date between Tanner and Shyann. While getting ready for his date, he was excited and happy about meeting someone new. As the narrator explained, Shyann liked the smell of roses and enjoyed scared cat videos. However, she didn't like blowing bubble gums and broccoli.

As Shyann arrived at the goat farm, Tanner greeted her and handed her the present he brought for her. He got her a girl pig and a boy pig, which she thanked him for. When she mentioned she liked them, Tanner told her that they "wanna be together."

"Hey, I'm glad to be here at the goat farm. Are you happy to be here?" asked Tanner.

She agreed and asked him about his favorite animal and favorite thing to do. He said it was a gorilla and then asked her for hers. She said it was a horse.

When he further asked the reason behind the horse being her favorite animal, she said:

"Because I love to play horses, like, ride them."

Listening to Shyann, Love on the Spectrum star Tanner shared the reason behind the gorillas being his favorite animals. He said they have hands, and they look like humans.

"So, I like lions, tigers, camels, gorillas, and dogs, cows, pigs, goats, and I'll tell you the animals I don't like. Skunks, Porcupines. I don't like bugs. I don't like spiders. You can tell me animals you like and the animals you don't like," he said.

She mentioned cows, pigs, sheep, and horses as her favorite. The ones she didn't like were snakes and mice. He then asked about chickens, which Shyann liked. The female cast member noted that she liked to feed them.

"I can't really do much with them, because they're...they're small," she said.

Further, on their date, Tanner asked Shyann if she had a job. She stated she wanted to go to college and become a vet. He shared that he was a Clemson graduate and an alumni. The male cast member also shared about working at the Shepherd's Hotel.

"I clean...I vacuum the stairs halfway to The Thomas Bar. I wipe down the wood all the way up to the Thomas Bar. I vacuum the blue mat up on fourth that goes out to the valet. I vacuum the blue mats. I vacuum the carpet under the plunger. I vacuum the carpet under the welcome desk," said Tanner.

Later, on their date at the goat farm, Tanner and Shyann enjoyed various animals and shared more of their interests.
