Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2, starring Nicole Kidman, wrapped up on July 2, 2025, with an explosive finale and Masha escaping a near-death experience. The penultimate episode ended on a cliffhanger, showing Masha drugging David, tying him to a chair in the hall, and gathering the guests of the Alpine retreat for an emergency meeting. In the season's final chapter, we learn that Masha planned everything—she wanted David Sharpe to confront the people whose lives were ruined by his company's weapons.
In an interview with Variety, when Nicole Kidman was asked about the future of her complicated relationship with David Sharpe, she replied,
"It's ain't over. It's like it's only just beginning-til' death do us part."
In the previous episode, we saw how Masha met David years ago during a television interview in Prague. David was smitten with Masha and asked her out on a date. Sadly, the two never reunited after their one-night stand, and Masha raised their daughter, Tatiana, all on her own. Because Masha was uncertain whether David would take responsibility, she chose to stay numb. When she finally started to reach out to David, she got caught up in a web of secret dealings, which ultimately led to the death of their daughter.
In the Season 2 finale, we finally see that Masha was the mastermind behind the entire setup at Zauberwald. She selected the guests, knowing they were affected by David's past actions. Her goal was for David to face the consequences of his wrongdoings.
During the trial, David assures the guests that his company will stop manufacturing weapons, but Masha discovers he's lying.
Nicole Kidman on Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2's ending: David blackmails Masha into signing an NDA
In the end, when Masha recovers from a fatal gunshot wound, they meet at McDonald's, and we realize that Masha has released the footage of David, promising that his company will stop producing weapons. And guess what? David makes Masha sign an NDA agreement stating that he wants to start a therapy program and wants her to be involved.
Although Masha initially refuses to sign the NDA, demanding equity, David blackmails her with footage of the aftermath of Masha's experiments (which he secured from Martin after bribing him). Masha signs the agreement and reminds him that they are a family as they share a kiss, but she eventually warns him that he will regret this move.
Kidman told Variety,
"There’s a cat and mouse to them, but they’re also intertwined forever because they had a child. And that was a part of closure for her, and being able to move forward. "
Nine Perfect Strangers Season 3: Is it renewed or not?
Nine Perfect Strangers has not been renewed for a third season yet. In an interview with Variety, Nicole Kidman, when asked about the possibility of a third season, said,
"I mean, right now, we’re just getting this out there. This was such a juggernaut of a series to make and to launch, and just to get it out there, you know? I only have the bandwidth to think of here and now, sorry to say."
When Mark Strong and Kidman were asked about where they would want to shoot the next installment of the show (if it were renewed), Strong replied that it would be exciting to shoot in the jungle, such as in Costa Rica or a similar location. Kidman also agreed with Strong's answer and said,
"Oh, wow. I love it. I’d love to be in the jungle!"
