One of the highly acclaimed wrestling series, Heels, first aired on Starz in 2021 and concluded with two seasons in 2023. It focuses on the lives of two brothers who are determined to run their small wrestling business in a town after the death of their father.
Netflix has finally set a release date for Heels. Fans can finally watch the series on September 15, 2024.
Heels features Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig as the Spade brothers. Following their father's death, Jack and Ace fake a rivalry in the ring, with one playing as the Heel and the other as Face. The brothers script their rivalry in the game without understanding its future consequences.
Their business runs smoothly, but the two brothers often conflict with each other outside of their professional lives. This started after an intense fight in the ring, which injected Jack and Ace with rage and discontentment.
When will Heels come out on Netflix?
Crafted by Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Loki's creator, Michael Waldron, the former Starz show Heels is set to be released on Netflix. The two-season series will debut on September 15, 2024.
Many fans and viewers have often doubted whether Heels is based on a true story, considering the show's commendable plot, but it's not inspired by any wrestler's life.
In an interview with Collider, Alexander Ludwig, who plays the younger brother Ace, spoke about Heels and how he feels about it:
"I always felt that it wasn’t just a wrestling show. Wrestling is such an incredible world to explore, but underneath it all, it’s about identity and it’s about people, and flawed people at that."
The actor was joined by his co-star Stephen Amell (who plays Jack), who explained that their show is more than just wrestling and rivalries. The actor reflected on a more resounding theme of family dynamics and how their professional lives significantly impacted their brotherhood.
The series does feature a lot of intense fight scenes between Jack and Ace, but it also shows their life after getting out of the ring.
Who are the cast members of Heels?
Stephen Amell portrays the elder brother Jack, and Alexander Ludwig plays Ace Spade in Heels. In addition to the titular characters, the show has an incredible cast of industry actors whose roles are tabulated below:
The cast of Heels, including the leads Amell and Ludwig, were mostly new to a wrestling show. In the same interview, they shared that the actors grew closer with time as they learned more about wrestling while filming scenes together.
Will there be a Heels Season 3?
Many shows and films have breathed a new life after their release on Netflix, and one of the biggest examples is Dwayne Johnson's Black Adams. Similarly, if the series gets all the attention of fans and viewers, who knows, the maker might think of creating another season.
The wrestling show was canceled after premiering its second season on Starz, and there was no news about its renewal. Throughout the two seasons, the Spade brothers often find themselves at odds with each other, but in the end, it's always about achieving their goals together.
As seen in one of the episodes of Heels, in which Ace tells Jack that:
"I love you and you’re my brother, and I appreciate you coming all the way out here, but you’re a real piece of sh*t."
Amell also described the relationship between Ace and Jack, saying that even if they fight and stand against each other, the brothers will always find a way to reconcile. The show is about family dynamics and how the wrestlers try to balance their personal and professional lives.
Heels will air on Netflix on September 15, 2024.
