Crave's Heated Rivalry, based on Rachel Reid's Game Changers, went from being a small six-episode Canadian hockey romance to a Global phenomenon after HBO Max acquired rights to stream it in the US.
While Reid's book was already popular among her loyal fan base, a new wave of audience discovered Shane and Ilya's story in the debut season, which is now being hailed as the perfect television adaptation.
Created by Jacob Tierney, Heated Rivalry follows the decade-long secret fling between Shane (Hudson Williams) and Ilya (Connor Storrie), two star hockey players and arch-rivals.
As the show silently took over the Internet by storm, its carefully crafted playlist has sparked numerous discussions. From offbeat pop artists to electrifying Russian tracks, the Season 1 soundtrack beautifully translates Shane and Ilya's story from enemies to lovers.
