Narrator Liev Schreiber states in the first episode of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills that the Bills are one of five NFL teams that use a college for training. The team trains at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, NY. Quarterback Josh Allen also notes in the show, “Camp’s one of my favorite times of the year… this is where you build the camaraderie of your team and get to know each other.”

Further into the episode, the show highlights how the entire staff of the Bills understands Josh Allen’s importance to the team and how having him at the helm is crucial. Head coach Sean McDermott mentions, “Here comes in a young man who has the weight of an organization on his shoulders.” Even general manager Brandon Beane notes, “He deserves so much credit for where we’re at.”

The episode also focuses on how the team has added former Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer to their arsenal, giving him a three-year contract. Josh Allen makes it a point to get in sync with the new addition. Allen notes, “The best thing you can do between a quarterback and receiver is have that open line of communication.”

A heartfelt moment in the episode showcases left tackle Dion Dawkins’ off-day from camp. The show features how the player became a dad and brought his two daughters and son to go drifting with him.

In another exclusive update from the first episode, the show focuses on how the new Bills stadium is being built in Orchard Park. Team owner Terry Pegula notes that there is a lot of science behind it. He states, “All the science has been done, like we’re protected more on the southwest side, which is the prevailing wind direction… and then we have the perforations set up. So we scienced it out.”

Even Josh Allen makes a trip to the new stadium and asks about the wind conditions. A worker mentions “very little,” explaining that the stadium insulates against the weather. The stadium will also feature amenities like a cold tub, hot tub, hydrotherapy, sauna, and a steam room.

Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills is available on HBO Max, and the next episode will be released on August 12, 2025.
