Hannah Einbinder won her first Emmy Award in the supporting role category for Hacks on September 14, 2025. From her viral speech calling for ‘Free Palestine’ to revealing that her popular comedy show will be concluding after Season 5, she has grabbed everyone’s attention.
During a live interview on the red carpet with E! News, American actress Hannah Einbinder revealed that Season 5 of Hacks will be the last season of the beloved comedy series. She also revealed that the shooting for the same will begin next week.

Emmys 2025: Hannah Einbinder reveals Hacks will conclude with Season 5
During the red carpet interview with Heather McMahan, who was hosting the Live From E!: 2025 Emmys, Hannah Einbinder shared about how she has mixed feelings about going back to shoot for Season 5 of Hacks, which is also the final season.
She stated:
"I think it will feel different. We're going to start next week, and knowing it's the last season is really bittersweet."
She added to this comment and further shared that while it is difficult to end a show, she feels it is also the right decision to end when it should be ended. She said:
"But I think it's right. It's nice to do something as many times as it should be done [and] not over stay your welcome. Rip it and do it and laugh and cry."
The dark comedy series was renewed for Season 5 just before the finale of Season 4. At the time, the showrunners of the show revealed how they were still deciding on whether they should go with the five-season plan of the series.
During an interview with Variety, one of the showrunners, Paul W. Downs, shared:
"We are now breaking up Season 5, and we have to see how many episodes it will take us to get to where we know we’re going to go. The final scene of the final episode has been in our minds since 2015, and we’re excited to get there. But that may take more episodes than we can fit in the season. So the truth is that we don’t know."
However, Hannah Einbinder’s comments have now confirmed that Hacks Season 5 will be the final season of the HBO comedy series.
What happened in Hacks Season 4?
In Season 4 of Hacks, Jean Smart’s character, Deborah, rose to new heights with her own late-night show but also ended unceremoniously. Furthermore, her relationship with Ava (Hannah Einbinder) also suffered a lot due to their fractious relationship.
After several challenging situations, which also include her time in Singapore and fake news about Deborah’s death, the stand-up comedian decides to go back to the US with Ava to get their careers back on track. The challenges will be more due to her non-compete contract, but Deborah and Ava will surely give their all to get their careers right on track in the final season.
