Is Citadel: Diana a sequel to Citadel?
Anthony Russo talked about the scope and vision of the show in different countries, especially in India, because of Priyanka Chopra Jonas (an Indian actress), the female lead in the parent show.
Continuing their vision, Citadel: Diana was announced. This is not a sequel but an Italian spin-off of the original shows. While the Russo brothers act as the executive producers on the Italian spin-off, the show is made locally with an Italian production team directed by Gina Gardini.
While the shows are set in the same universe, Citadel is set against Manticore, a rival organization. Each story can be watched exclusively and independently. Producer of Citadel, Angela Russo-Otstot said in a statement,
“We want them to have any possible entry point that makes sense for them...Each of these stories welcome a brand new audience in a manner where they will enjoy the stories for what they are.”
What is the plot and release date of Citadel: Diana?
The show stars Matilda De Angelis as Diana, a spy agent recruited by Citadel. Diana lost her parents in a plane crash and has been obsessed with this incident and trying to find out more about the organization responsible for it. The six-episode series was released on October 10, 2024.
The show jumps between timelines, with one set in 2030 Milan, where Citadel is destroyed by Manticore and Diana is trapped behind enemy lines.
Diana is an emotionally vulnerable agent who also has to be tough as nails and bring justice to the people responsible for her parents' deaths. She is accompanied by Edo Zani, the heir to Manticore, who doesn't believe in its ideologies.
Since Manticore destroyed the Global spy agency Citadel, which kept people safe, Edo does not trust the criminal syndicate and decides to help Diana fight against it.
