Anne Reed is the former wife of Scott Horn, a retired FBI agent. One fine day, his daughter Kelly was unable to reach to his father and rushed home. She realised that the dogs were not taken out for long as there was piss all around. But it's when Riley, their son, scoured the house he stumbled upon his father's body and frantically told Kelly to call 911.

Earlier, the authorities were delving more into Scott's career as an FBI agent and real estate profession in the hope of finding any connection to his death. However, it's later only they realise the intense divorce battle and history of domestic violence the couple had.

Anne was charged with first and second-degree murder for the commitment of murder and also for the use of a handgun. But later, surprisingly, she was acquitted of all charges in 2018 because the authorities didn't find any substantial evidence against her, as shown in Dateline NBC. Anne faced other charges during the trial, such as manipulating the state witness when she tried to prevent her son from testifying in the trial.

What more do we know about Anne Reed and her personal relations, as shown in Dateline?

In the Dateline episode, it was revealed that Scot was shot from a handgun in the neck region and then was beaten to death with a wooden log. Talking to their kids, Kelly and Riley reveal some critical details about the condition of their house. There are locks on every door of their house, which tells a lot about the fragile marriage of the couple. One day their daughter, Kelly, was forced to sleep in the hallway as a punishment by Anne. When Scott objected, Anne pulled out a handgun on him.

On the day of the crime, Anne didn't get out of the house except for the one time to refill the fireplace. According to reports, Anne was also having an affair with Jason Allen Byrd, who was first charged but later acquitted in the case. The case remains unsolved for years and becomes a mystery. If Anne is the culprit, how come there isn't substantial proof against her, what piece of the jigsaw are the authorities missing and if it is not her, then who?

Anne is currently sentenced to 20 years in prison for influencing adult witnesses. The Dateline episode aired on April 17, 2020, in the US on NBC.
