He came across a disturbing image, which caused him to worry about the situation at their house. In the Dateline episode, it is revealed that Nan Yao called his son, Justin, to go back home to check if everything was alright. In the live camera feed, Nan Yao saw a shadowy figure “walking from the kitchen toward the breakfast area.”
Nan Yao’s son, Justin, promptly returned home around 12:30 PM. However, what he saw completely baffled him. Justin noticed that the cameras installed around the house had been removed. He heard water running, which prompted him to follow the sound. The moment he entered the master bathroom, he witnessed a horrifying scene: his mother, Jill Halliburton Su, was lying inside the bathtub. He also saw that her face was submerged in the water.
The first thought that came to Justin’s mind was that his mother might have killed herself. He immediately called his father to inform him about the situation. 911 was also called after Justin’s father advised him to ask for help.
