Netflix is bringing back the royal drama with the announcement of Bridgerton Season 4. The fourth season has already begun production in England. Netflix has announced that Bridgerton Season 4 will focus on the love story of Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek.
Benedict Bridgerton is the second son of the influential Bridgerton family. Sophie Baek is currently known as the masked Lady in Silver. The Netflix series is famous for its historically dramatic love stories and forbidden romances.
The show is also known for adding diverse representation in its characters. The characters in the show belong to the aristocratic British society in the 1800s.
In the series, George III marries Queen Charlotte, who is of African ancestry. Living in the Regency Era, George III declares racial equality, giving aristocratic titles to people of African ancestry.
What is the plot for Bridgerton Season 4?
The show is inspired by the books authored by Julia Quinn. They tell the stories of eight siblings from the powerful Bridgerton family. The first two seasons were adapted from the first two books, The Duke and I and The Viscount Who Loved Me.
While fans expected the third season to be based on the third book, they were surprised when it was based on the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton. Bridgerton Season 4 will focus on the third book, An Offer From a Gentleman.
Bridgerton Season 4 will be eight episodes long. The new season will explore the love story of Benedict Bridgerton. Despite not wanting to settle down in previous seasons, Benedict finally finds the girl of his dreams at his mother's masquerade ball.
So what's the problem? All that Benedict knows about the masked girl is that she is the Lady in Silver. What he doesn't know is that the girl he has fallen for is Sophie. Sophie is a clever maid with her own aspirations and mysteries.
Luke Thompson, who plays the role of Benedict Bridgerton, told Tudum:
"What's striking about season 4 is that it's the struggle between a proper old-school fairytale - the romance of it - and the actual reality of the world"
He further added,
"And both are true. You have to hold both of them - the romance and the reality - in your hand. In its best version, 'true love' happens in the middle of that."

Who is Sophie Baek in Bridgerton Season 4?
Starring opposite Luke Thompson is Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek. When asked about her role in Bridgerton Season 4, she stated:
"What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles—something that she constantly has to overcome. Wheter it's this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict."
Her character is a polar opposite from other debutantes. Sophie has seen her share of tough times. For most of her life, she has had no choice but to work for a challenging employer.
Even in tragic times, Sophie's skills always pave her way, and she perseveres. Sophie meets Benedict when she masks herself to attend Violet Bridgerton's masquerade ball.
Fans may be wondering why her name is Sophie Baek and not Sophie Beckett as it is in the books. This change was made to respect cultural diversity. Since Ha is Korean, showrunner Jess Brownell asked her to suggest another last name that began with B.
This led to her character's name being Sophie Baek. Commenting on the name change, Sophie has stated:
"A name is the first bit of identity that you share with the world, and that's why changing a name can be so powerful. To make Sophie's name fit someone who looks like me is really empowering. All credits to Jess Brownell, our showrunner."
