Shonda Rhimes just handed Bridgerton fans the ultimate gossip, and it's that the show will be hanging around for way longer than fans think. At the Edinburgh TV Festival, the powerhouse producer confirmed that the hit Netflix romance will unfurl over exactly eight seasons, each devoted to one of Violet Bridgerton’s children. It mirrors Julia Quinn’s novels, but with the full Rhimes treatment, and individual attention to all our favorite characters.

Answering the question, Rhimes said,

“The Bridgerton series is eight children. Violet Bridgerton and all eight of her children married. So every season is a child.”

Season 3 may have just stolen hearts with Penelope and Colin, but Netflix already has Seasons 5 and 6 locked in, while Season 4 is slated for 2026.

What makes this even juicier is Rhimes’ tease that while the main saga will faithfully cover all eight siblings, the Bridgerton universe itself might not stop there. Spin-offs and side stories are waiting in the wings, which means the ton’s endless intrigue could stretch far beyond the Bridgertons themselves. Rhimes added that there was “a possibility for spin-offs”, although not much is known about that as of now.

Bridgerton has been a full-blown cultural phenomenon draped in silk, lace, and scandal on Netflix, thanks to Shonda Rhimes. Created by Chris Van Dusen and produced under Rhimes’ powerhouse banner Shondaland, this regency romance is adapted from Julia Quinn’s beloved book series. Yet, while Quinn’s novels offered a delicious escape into the ton, Netflix’s Bridgerton takes things further, reimagining early 19th-century London as an alternative history where Queen Charlotte’s African heritage reshaped society into a world of racial equality and aristocratic diversity.

Three seasons in, fans are deeply entangled in the romances of the Bridgertons: from Daphne and Simon’s fiery debut to Anthony and Kate’s slow-burning passion and the story of Penelope and Colin. The ton is buzzing once more, and this time all eyes are on Benedict Bridgerton. Netflix has confirmed that Bridgerton Season 4 will arrive in 2026, shifting the spotlight to the second son of the Bridgerton family. The season adapts Julia Quinn’s An Offer from a Gentleman and reimagines it in classic Bridgerton fashion with scandal, glamour, and a masquerade ball to remember.

The season also welcomes fresh faces like Katie Leung as the ambitious Lady Araminta Gun and her daughters Rosamund, played by Michelle Mao and Posy, played by Isabella Wei, who bring their own intrigue to Mayfair’s social season. Familiar favorites, including Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope, Claudia Jessie’s Eloise, and Simone Ashley’s Kate will return as well.

With eight new episodes ahead, Season 4 promises masked secrets, forbidden love, and Lady Whistledown’s sharpest quill yet.

The previous three seasons of Bridgerton are available to stream on Netflix.
