Laura and her parents talked about the age difference between her and Birkan. For the fans, who might not know, the two met online. After talking and getting to know him better, Laura decided to visit him in Turkey. She also shared the news and the age difference thing with her friends, who were also shocked.

When Laura's mom learned that there was a 20-year age gap between Laura and Birkan, she was concerned.

"Oh my God. Laura, are you serious?" reacted Laura's mom on the age difference matter.

TLC shared a video clip featuring Laura and her parents on December 19, 2025. They talked about Birkan and Laura's age gap. In her private confessional, 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star noted that it was the biggest concern she had.

Her mom asked how old Birkan was. When she revealed that Birkan was 20 years younger than herself, her mother was shocked.

"I think I got hair on my chin that are older than that," reacted Laura's father.

He asked what Birkan was thinking about the age difference. Laura said that he thought that she was awesome. Her mom said it was not funny. She asked whether Laura ever thought that he was talking to an older woman and was saying all the "right things."

"Had he told you he loved you?" asked her mom.

When Laura said yes, her mom told her that it was a "big red flag." She said that it wasn't love and that he didn't love her. She added that Laura hadn't even met the guy, and she had conversations with an "unknown entity."

"You haven't even met this guy yet. You've had conversations with an unknown entity. Right now, it's not love," added her mom.

90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star Laura agreed that she knew it was a concern. Her mom said that it was more like "ten giant red flags" and not a mere concern. She asked her daughter whether she thought that there was a possibility that it could work. She also asked if that could be a lifelong commitment.

In response, Laura said that if she didn't think that it was a possibility, then she wouldn't be getting on a plane.

Before leaving for Turkey, Laura shared the news with her friends. While her friends thought it was her best friend, Michael, that was not the case. 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star noted that anyone who had seen her interacting with Michael assumed that they were dating or married.

"And even though things have been confusing between us at times, he really is just my best friend. My actual boyfriend's name is Birkan, and he lives in İzmir, Turkey," confessed Laura.

In her private confessional, she shared how things unfolded between the two. She downloaded Snapchat about six months ago for "cute" Christmas filters. At the time, she didn't realize that it was also a way to meet new people. 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days's Laura wasn't aware that there was a "find a friend" feature.

"And the one I was most interested in was Birkan. Birkan has this amazing bad boy aesthetics. I mean, he's tall. He's got dark hair. He's got a "smokin' hot" tattoo. And he's absolutely like the hot male main character straight off the pages of a romance novel," confessed Laura.

While talking to her friends, she noted that she knew that it was super crazy. When they asked why, she said it was because Birkan was "super young." Her friends asked about Birkan's age, which was 26. They were surprised to know that.
