America's Got Talent Season 20 Episode 5 Recap - Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval auditions for the show

America's Got Talent Season 20 Episode 5 dropped on NBC on June 24, 2025. The episode featured a surprise audition from reality TV star Tom Sandoval, who stars in Vanderpump Rules.

The auditions are continuing, and this was the fifth episode with the same. During this phase, each act performed on the stage needs at least three approvals from the four judges sitting on the panel to make it to the next round.

There is a concept of a golden buzzer during which an act so good that it impresses either the judges or host Terry Crews, gets sent to the finale directly without the hassle of competing in the middle rounds.

This America's Got Talent episode brought the drama and flair that had been lacking in the previous acts in a row and established itself as a redemption arc for Tom Sandoval. At the same time, even the audience was pumped to see the variety, and Mel B took note of it.

King Moore is a rapper from Texas and managed to sway all the America's Got Talent judges into giving him a yes. Even though he is 9 years old right now, Simon Cowell, who is reserved on handing out compliments, said that it was nice to see someone write their material.

Alain Simonov was next and bagged a yes from Howie, Simon, and Sofia, but Mel said no. He is a magician from Brazil, and Sofia was impressed by his performance.

The third one was Andrea, who did a Hula Hoop act and holds a Guinness World Record. She was able to pass to the next round even though this act was called "weird" by Sofia Vergara.

Next up was Bill Taylor & The Appalachian Heathens. They are a band from Kentucky and got yeses from all the America's Got Talent judges.

The Bodyguards from Poland did a balancing act that was so difficult, that Sofia did not believe her eyes. Howie, Sofia, and Mel said yes, whereas Simon said a half yes.

Then there was the Stardust duo, who roller-skated. They hail from Ukraine, and it impressed Sofia so much that she pressed her Golden Buzzer for this one. Commenting, she said,

"I really doubt that it was what Simon said that made you guys so great. I think it was in you, I think you know what to do — maybe that day he was in a bad mood and he didn't like you. I think for real that was great, I can see moves that are difficult, that are different, that are special."

Time to discuss Tom Sandoval, the Vanderpump Rules star who even went on The Traitors. This time, he is adding a third star to his belt in the form of performing on America's Got Talent.

He hails from Los Angeles, California, and was able to get a yes from Mel, Sofia, Simon, and Howie. He performed a rendition of "Take on Me," and the judges were impressed. Talking about his journey, Tom said,

"I made some bad choices and was involved in a really bad cheating scandal. I let down a lot of people. It pretty much destroyed my life."
