7 Reasons Player 333 from Squid Game managed to survive almost till the end

7) Closed the door before Young-mi entered in the Mingle game (Season 2, Episode 6)

The mingle game in Squid Game season 2 was one of the popular games of the series and brought forth the many inner demons of the players. For instance, the Front Man killed a player to save himself, and his mask of a good human almost slipped in front of Jung-bae.

In the same game, while it was announced that six players would be in one room, Hyun-ju and the others ran to find a room but while Young-mi was coming to enter the room, Myung-gi (player 333) arrived before her and locked the room from inside, resulting in Young-mi’s death and his survival.

6) Killed Thanos (Season 2, Episode 7)

Thanos was one of the rivals of Myung-gi, who did not waste any chance to bully him or the other players like Min-su, and he tried to do the same in episode 7 of Squid Game season 2, which Player 333/Myung-gi stopped him from doing. While they were arguing, they both tried to instigate a fight between the X and O groups. But it was when Nam-gyu and Thanos mentioned Jun-hee that the actual fight began.

Thanos almost choked player 333/ Myung-gi, but Myung-gi defended himself by stabbing Thanos in his throat with a fork, saving himself from a threat outside the games.

5) Traded his key for Jun-hee’s knife (Season 3, Episode 1)

The biggest, the most tragic, and emotional deaths happened in the Hide and Seek game in Squid Game season 3. In the game, the players were divided into two teams, with one team (Blue) having keys to open doors and the other team (Red) carrying a knife to eliminate players from the key team.

Jun-hee was in red while Player 333/Myung-gi was in blue. He asked her to swap her knife for his key and promised that he would save her and the baby at any cost, which was another reason he survived the game, as changing his key for a knife in the brutal game was a favorable decision for him.

4) Teamed up with Nam-gyu (Season 3, Episode 1)

Another reason for his survival in these games in Squid Game was his teaming up with Nam-gyu, who had just popped another of his pills and was high during the game. Nam-gyu was the one who gave him the idea that if they killed several players in this game, there wouldn’t/ be enough competition left for them to win the prize money.

Player 333/Myung-gi, whose aim was to win the game, realized that it was not that difficult for him to kill others, and they started to create mayhem in the game by killing the other contestants.

3) Stabbed Hyun-ju (Season 3, Episode 2)

If we talk about favorite characters in Squid Game, Hyun-ju would definitely be on the list as everyone loved the selfless character and was rooting to see her in the finale. She even protected Jun-hee and Geum-ja in the knife and key game. While she came back to inform the two that she had found the exit, Myung-gi stabbed her twice from behind, killing her in an instant.

If she was alive, she would have surely been a threat to Myung-gi winning the money; therefore, eliminating Hyun-ju also meant he eliminated another of his competitors.

2) Manipulated the final contestants (Season 3, Episode 5)

In the last game of Squid Game season 3, the remaining contestants had to play the Sky squid game, where they had to eliminate at least one player in each level, which consisted of three levels: a square, a triangle, and a circle structure.

All the contestants wanted to eliminate Gi-hun and Player 222’s baby. However, Myung-gi manipulated the others into thinking hard and decided that they should kill Min-su first, as he was the easier target now.

1) Killed Min-su and Jeong-de (Season 3, Episode 5-6)

Since not one of them succeeded in pushing Min-su from the square structure in the final game in Squid Game season 3, player 333/Myung-gi pulled out the pole placed in the middle of the square structure and approached Min-su. He killed him by pushing him off the edge with the pole.

After a while, Myung-gi changed his stance and shifted toward Gi-hun and the baby, and also revealed that he is the father of the baby. During a scuffle, he killed several of the players left, including player 100, who begged for mercy, but player 333 still killed him, which initially looked like he was doing it to protect his baby. But as the show proceeded, his greed for the prize money and saving his life became his ultimate motive.
