Ever since it's debut in 1966 with Star Trek: The Original Series, the franchise has propagated a utopian vision of the future. This Star Trek vision has come to include crew members from all walks of life on the USS Enterprise and the other vessels, along with the prominent use of alien races and species. A big cap in the feather of Star Trek has been the fact that it didn't necessarily demonize the alien species on purpose to get by in terms of the narrative, and frequently brought them out with their own character arcs.

While several of these aliens were first introduced on the TV show, there are quite a few others who were presented for the first time in the movies belonging to the franchise. It can be said in all fairness that the movies did a lot to popularize the franchise and thereafter their significance persists to this day. Here we take a look at five such aliens who were introduced in the Star Trek movies.

What are the 5 alien species introduced in the Star Trek movies?

1) Keenser's Species

The Kelvin timeline was introduced in the 2009 Star Trek movie and it came with a few newly added alien species, including the one who works as a second officer and an engineer to Montgomery Scott. It's origins were unknown and in the non-canonical comics they have been referred to as the Roylan. There have been many instances of their appearance outside of the Kelvin timeline.

2) The Arcadians

Another example of background aliens that were called to fill up the scenery on The Voyage Home, they sported a mohawk hairstyle and doll-like face, that arguably gave them the most striking appearance. Not much is known about them except for the fact that they are a part of the Federation.

3) The Chameloids

They are the fist shapeshifting alien race introduced in the franchise and appeared on The Undiscovered Country. Martia was the Chameloid who was seen deploying her shape shifting abilities to deceive the guards who were detaining her alongside McCoy and Kirk at the behest of the Klingons. They possesed the rare ability to mimic all aspects of a person including their voice and their clothes.

4) The Nibirans

They are a primitive species from the Kelvin timeline who lack technological advancement unlike the other aliens mentioned in this list. They exhibited stark black eyes devoid of any pupils and also had chalky white skin. They were chanced upon by the members of the Enterprise as they tried to save the species from an erupting volcano.

5) The Efrosians

Introduced on Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, a member of this alien species went on to become the President of the Federation just two movies down the timeline. They are instantly recognizable by their long white hair and flowing mustaches on the male members.
