Disney's Daredevil: Born Again was originally expected to be completely different from Netflix's original Daredevil series. It would mean that an entirely new side cast would have to be introduced and developed into new characters in the Disney series. However, several old characters reprised their roles in the Disney series, and we also got to meet some new ones.

Along with Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock himself, and Vincent D'Onofrio as the Kingpin, several major supporting actors such as Jon Bernthal, Deborah Ann Woll, Ayelet Zurer, Wilson Bethel, and Elden Henson reprised their roles. However, there were also many new side characters introduced in Daredevil: Born Again. It can be difficult to build entirely new characters from scratch in the short time offered to the creators, but they've still managed to create some exceptional side characters on the show.

Top 3 Side Characters from Daredevil: Born Again

Kirsten McDuffie, played by Nikki M. James

The premiere of Daredevil: Born Again witnessed Foggy Nelson dying after Bullseye's attack on Josie's Bar. After Matt's best friend died, he could no longer be a part of Nelson, Murdock, and Page in Hell's Kitchen. So, he left Hell's Kitchen and instead started a new law firm. He convinced district attorney Kristen McDuffie, played by Nikki M. James, to leave the DA's office and instead join him in his law firm.

Kirsten McDuffie is a breath of fresh air when it comes to a legal ally for Murdock. She is a friend who doesn't mind giving Matt reality checks or setting him up on blind dates with her friends. Her reaction to Matt taking Hector Ayala's case shows that she is not afraid to paint a picture of the reality in front of Matt, but she will still stand by him, as we see when she is his second on the case.

She stands strong beside Matt and trusts him, expecting the same from him. Even though there is a very small probability of this happening, it would be interesting to see how she would react if she were to find out the reality behind Daredevil's identity that Matt has been hiding from her.

Her sharp wit and warm presence are a great addition to Daredevil: Born Again and in Matt's life as a friend and confidant.

BB Urich, played by Genneya Walton

BB Urich, played by Genneya Walton, was introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ben Urich, the New York Bulletin journalist's niece. Ben Urich was murdered by The Kingpin after a visit to his mother. BB Urich is, much like her uncle, a strong-willed journalist who is not afraid of putting the cold, hard truth out into the world.

Even though her character is mostly a replacement for her uncle, she is playing a brilliant role in expanding her allies, as she's recently made a deal with the New York Police Department Commissioner Gallo against Wilson Fisk. BB's presence on the show is a reminder of her uncle's brutal murder as well as Wilson Fisk's violence and mercilessness.

In the Marvel comics, her character went on to become a Spider-Man villain, but that is extremely unlikely for her MCU counterpart. However, she will definitely play a big part in the show and the taking down of Wilson Fisk, so there is a lot of scope for her character to develop.

It will be interesting to see how her smart, strong-willed instincts come into play in her agenda against the mayor of New York, Wilson Fisk.

Daniel Blake, played by Michael Gandolfini

Even though Michael Gandolfini's Daniel Blake started as somewhat of a jester in Wilson Fisk's office as the mayor of New York, he's slowly and steadily growing into an exciting part of Daredevil: Born Again.

He started out on the show as a bumbling mess, even responsible for BB publishing the article that caused Fisk's plans to fail, but he's slowly turning dark and violent, which is somewhat interesting to witness. Daniel threatening BB to publish in favor of the mayor was a great look on him. As an antagonist, Gandolfini plays an extremely convincing role.

Daniel Blaks's character is completely original to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so Daredevil: Born Again has a lot of scope regarding what to do with his character. It will be interesting to see where his character ends up by the season finale of the show.

These are a few of the best side characters, according to us in Disney's Daredevil: Born Again. The ninth and final episode of the show is set to be released on Disney+ on April 15, 2025.
