Keke Palmer, the actor best known for her role in the comedy-horror series Scream Queens, has been making headlines on social media. Recently, Keke had an episode on her podcast, Baby, This is Keke Palmer, with Jonathan Majors.
The episode was initially set to be released on Tuesday, April 8, 2025; however, it was not released and was removed from the podcast lineup.
Jonathan was convicted of assault and harassment in December 2023, and when the news of Keke giving him a platform on her podcast came out, she faced massive backlash from netizens.
Why did Keke Palmer cancel her episode with Jonathan?
Keke Palmer, who was supposed to have an episode under the title No Easy Answers: Accountability and Moving Forward with Jonathan Majors on Tuesday, has canceled the episode. The episode is replaced with an interview with the Ice Me Out singer, Kash Doll.
Back in 2023, Jonathan was convicted of harassing and assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, but has denied the claims. As of now, he is trying to fix his public image, and promoting his upcoming film, Magazine Dreams.
He was, however, sentenced to probation and a 52-week in-person batterer's intervention program. Earlier this month, when the announcement of Keke interviewing Jonathan came out, Keke was called out by netizens.
Netizens called her out for a few reasons, including for allegedly helping Jonathan get his image back without him being held accountable.
Keke has always been vocal about women's rights and domestic violence, as she has herself suffered domestic violence by Darius Jackson with whom she has a son. Thus, when she invited someone like Jonathan, netizens saw a contradiction in her actions.
When the preview clip and the announcement of Jonathan being in an episode of the podcast came out, one netizen wrote on X:
''You’d think she, of all people, wouldn’t want to give a platform to a confessed and convicted domestic abuser.''
One of them also pointed out that Keke should have simply not invited Jonathan as a guest in the first place. That way, she could have avoided the backlash she received. Here is what they said on X:
''it’s so easy to just not do things like this and stay on the right side of history, but the pr girlies seem to be on spring break as of late… bad move.''
The backlash was powerful and following it, the episode was quietly removed and replaced. The episode was also taken down from the Wondery+ page.
Keke Palmer was recently seen in a comedy film, One of Them Days, alongside SZA which was released in January 2025.
