Marion Hugh "Suge" Knight Jr., who is also popularly known as Suge Knight, talked about what happened with Tupac Shakur's ashes on the night the late rapper was cremated. During an interview with PEOPLE, Suge revealed that 2Pac's ashes were rolled in a blunt and smoked by his friends and family.

According to Suge Knight, he recalled the night he was in the hospital after Tupac was shot. Shakur's mother, Afeni, came up to him and told him to cremate her son's body right away. Even though Suge resisted initially, he completed Shakur's mother's wishes. He told PEOPLE:

"She came up to me and said, 'Get it done. Now.' I told her, 'Look, I don't know if I can do that.'

He told Afeni how Tupac had already discussed how he wanted to be sent off. He elaborated:

"He told me, 'When I go, I want every rapper at my funeral to grab the mic. I want them to kiss me head to toe. Just like in 'Life Goes On.'' He didn’t want to be cremated."

But Afeni was having none of it, so Knight continued:

"She gave me one of those mama looks, like, 'Shut your a** up and do what I said.' Then she started cussing me out. 'Get this sh*t done!'... I paid someone a million dollars cash to take care of it."

Suge Knight then talked about how Tupac Shakur's circle allegedly used his ashes, rolled them in a blunt, and smoked them. Knight justified the act by saying:

"I was so happy to say I was on probation — I couldn't smoke, I told his mother, 'Moms, I'd love to, but if I hit that, I'll get in trouble.' I was probably the only one who didn’t hit him... You gotta understand, that's what made sense. It was symbolic. It’s like… you keep part of him."

Suge Knight opens up about what happened after Tupac Shakur was shot

Suge Knight recalled how he took a U-turn and raced towards Las Vegas Boulevard. Police officers who heard the shots called for backup and tailed the BMW, and called for medical assistance when Knight stopped, and were taken to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. He explained:

"I got out and tried to tell the officers what happened while I was bleeding everywhere... Also, I then was getting Tupac out the car, even when the door was open. I had to go over there bleeding everywhere, take the seat belt off him. When we get into the ambulance, Pac is funny as f**k. He cracking jokes. I'm cracking jokes. Pac’s like, 'Sh*t, when we heal up, you know what we doing.' That type of sh*t."

While Suge Knight got away with minor injuries, 2Pac was in critical condition. Nonetheless, Knight recalled what the late rapper had asked him to do at the hospital. He said:

"When I came to see him, Pac was sitting up talking. He [allegedly] said, 'Well, look. One, bring me a blunt. Matter of fact, bring me two blunts.' And I said, 'You going to smoke in the hospital?' He [allegedly] said, 'Yeah, I am.'"

Suge Knight also revealed a request Shakur made before he went in for his second surgery. He allegedly begged Knight to be killed. One thing that was clear for Shakur is that he would be sent back to prison after he is done healing and recovering from the fight that broke out in the casino earlier that night.

According to 2Pac, this is what he had to say about going to prison:

"I’ll die before I go back."

Suge Knight then recalled how Shakur had begged his mother to end his life, too. In the end, Afeni allegedly gave him some pills to fulfill her son's request. When the doctors came in to revive him, she said:

"Don’t ever do that again. If he’s having complications, don't touch him. Don't bring him back. Let him go."

The doctors could not do much after putting him on a medically induced coma and a respirator. Tupac was announced dead at 4:03 p.m. on September 13, 1996.

Tupac Shakur's death has been a topic of conspiracy for many fans and conspiracy theorists. However, Suge Knight's revelation gave the public a deeper insight into how the late rapper was celebrated by his friends and family after passing away. According to Suge, smoking Shakur's ashes in a blunt was a way of keeping him close.
