Samantha Jones, an American influencer who dabbles in wildlife, has drawn global condemnation over a video showcasing her extracting a joey wombat from its mother in Australia. This short segment, captured and uploaded on her social media account, has received immense backlash as a portion of the Australians blame her and want her deported along with facing legal consequences.

The Controversial Video of Samantha Jones

Samantha Jones, or Samantha Strable, has remained in the spotlight due to her hunting and outrageous wildlife endeavors. However, her recent video from Australia has caused more outrage than any. In the recording, Jones was spotted next to a wombat and its baby joey on a roadside at night. She is seen capturing the joey and holding it out for the camera while an Australian man recording behind her is seen laughing.

While Jones was taking the photo with the joey smiling and calling it her “dream moment,” the mother wombat behind her is visibly distressed. After some time, she returns the baby to the mother and says that they were “safely reunited”.

Animal Experts Severely Criticize Her Behavior

Wildlife protection activists and animal rights activists are up in arms over the actions that Jones committed. Dr. Tania Bishop from WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue, and Education Service) noted that the act of pulling a joey out of the mother’s pouch, even for a short period, can be very stressful for both animals and can cause serious harm to them.

"A joey of this age is completely dependent on its mother. Separation, handling and stress could lead this infant to lifelong trauma or even abandonment, in the worst case scenario," said Dr. Bishop.

Moreover, Australian regulations state that without a permit, one cannot disturb native fauna and flora, and that alone is a crime. Such infractions can result in large fines and jail time.

Public Indignation and Recommendation for Exile

The clip spread like wildfire, resulting in negative reactions from all Australians and anyone interested in wildlife from across the globe. People using social media bombarded Samantha Jones’ pages declaring her actions to be foolish and calling for appropriate measures to be taken. Several people on the internet began to use the phrase #DeportSamJones as a way to tell Australian politicians that strict action had to be taken against her.

"I'd appreciate it if the both of them could be fined and for her to be sent back to America immediately."
"These influencers will do whatever it takes for views not caring what it does to others."
