Remember a time when Sean John Combs a.k.a. P. Diddy's net worth was at $1 billion. This estimation was calculated by Forbes back in 2022. At the time, Diddy's finances came from his early music career, investments, and side businesses that he has. Fast forward to 2025, Diddy has been in jail since last September.

Diddy was arrested on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and more. While his trial will begin next month in May, the Bad Boy For Life singer is at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The New York Times has reported that the once-successful billionaire is now using $1 mackerel cans or "macks" as currency in the jail.

Diddy is currently being held at 4 North, which is comparatively better than other parts of the detention center. It is a four-floor dormitory-style building that is usually occupied by high-profile inmates. Keep reading to learn more about 4 North.

More details about where P. Diddy is being detained

At the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), the rapper shares his space with about 20 other inmates. He is being held at the 4 North unit, a part of the center which is more lenient towards the prisoners. One of the prominent individuals who was held in this unit was Sam Bankman-Fried, a convicted crypto fraudster who had been transferred.

According to a statement given by a former inmate who was in the 4 North wing, Gene Borrello said:

"You have nothing to worry about".

He also added that there are certain facilities that are available to the inmates living in 4 North. These include a gym, a microwave, and television sets. There is also privacy in the bathroom, and the inmates often dine together in a shared space. They can also watch movies and listen to music via tablets that can be bought from the commissary, but they are not connected to the internet.

Although the rules are less stringent in this part of the correctional facility, daily check-ins are made mandatory. Another set of rules that come with being detained at 4 North is that phone calls are limited to 15 minutes and can be tapped into by the government. Inmates can have visitors only on Tuesdays.

Sean Combs has been provided with a laptop so he can have a look at the evidence that has been presented before the day of his trial. As mentioned, the laptop is not connected to the WiFi and can only be used between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. If Combs is found guilty during his trial, he can face a minimum of 15 years in prison.
