Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, is currently facing a high-profile federal sex trafficking trial that has made national headlines. Recently, criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and TV producer Harvey Levin, co-hosts of the 2 Angry Men podcast, discussed Combs’ sentencing.
The podcast episode, released on July 3, 2025, also featured a brief appearance by Mark's daughter, Teny Geragos, who serves as co-lead attorney on Diddy’s defense team.
While discussing the potential sentence Combs may face following the split verdict delivered on July 2, 2025, Mark said that he thinks the judge will sentence Combs to between 12 and 18 months behind bars.
Mark Geragos discusses Diddy's sentencing on the 2 Angry Men podcast
In the episode titled "Diddy Trial: Someone Close to Diddy’s Defense Drops Bombshell," Mark and Harvey discuss Combs’ sentencing. On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Combs was acquitted of the two serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, and was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, and could face up to 20 years in prison, as per CNN.
Mark and Harvey then discussed the sentencing. Mark said that he believes the judge might sentence Combs to 12 to 18 months in prison. He also said that since Combs has already spent about 10 months in jail, that time will count toward his final sentence. If the judge agrees with Mark’s estimate, Combs could be released shortly after sentencing.
They also debated about what the defense and the prosecutors are thinking about the sentencing. As per Combs defense lawyers, they think that the starting point for sentencing should be 21 months, and as per the prosecutors, it should start at 51 months (about 4 years and 3 months). On this, Mark Geragos thinks that the judge will go for a sentence closer to what Combs has already served.
In a nutshell, since Combs has already spent almost 10 months in jail, lawyers think he might get a total sentence of 12–18 months, which means he could be out soon if the judge agrees.
On July 2, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian denied Diddy’s bail request, citing his history of domestic violence and a prior beating caught on camera. Combs is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York.
Combs will remain in custody until his sentencing hearing, currently scheduled for October 3, 2025, unless the court agrees to move it up after a July 8 pre-sentencing conference, as reported by The Daily Beast.
