The deliberations in the federal sex trafficking trial of music mogul Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, have begun. Reports from The Sun indicate that on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, around 4:05 PM UTC, the jury sent a note to the judge to announce that they had reached verdicts.
The note stated that the jury had reached verdicts on four of the five charges, which include two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of transportation for prostitution. The jury made the decision just after 13 hours of deliberation, having begun on Monday, June 30, 2025.
However, the jury was deadlocked on the racketeering conspiracy charge in Diddy's trial.
More about the jury's deliberation in Diddy's trial
The jury is expected to resume deliberations on Wednesday after reaching a decision on the racketeering conspiracy charge in Diddy's trial. The note also said that the jury has 'unpersuadable opinions on both sides,' meaning that the decisions are not final and the jurors can change their minds until the verdict is officially announced in court.
The judge, Subramanian, emphasized that the jurors are the sole judges of the facts and must make a decision based on the evidence presented and the witnesses in court. As per USA Today, this is what the judge had to say:
''The rulings I have made during the trial are not any indication of my views of what your decision should be as to whether or not the guilt of the defendant has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. You are to perform the duty of finding the facts without bias or prejudice as to any party.''
According to reports by NBC News, when the jury stated that they were unable to decide on the charge, the prosecution and defense teams requested that the judge instruct the jury to continue deliberating. Prosecutor Maurene Comey suggested that the judge give the jury a message encouraging them to continue discussing the case and try to reach a consensus. She, however, requested that the version of this message be a bit softer than the usual Allen charge.
The judge said:
''You should not hesitate to change an opinion when convinced. Weigh your opinion dispassionately and follow my instructions on the law. Your verdict must be unanimous. Each of you must make your own decision based on consideration of the evidence and discussion with fellow jurors.''
Diddy is currently in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024. He faces five federal felony charges and has pleaded not guilty to all of them. However, if he is convicted on all charges, he could face life in prison.
