The 12-member jury responsible for determining whether Sean Diddy Combs is guilty of the sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation for prostitution charges has reached a verdict on all counts except one. Court observers have reported that after two days of deliberation, the jury reached a consensus on four charges except the racketeering charge due to “unpersuadable views.”
The jury informed Judge Arun Subramanian on July 1, 2025, that they could not agree on a verdict on the racketeering charge. A day earlier, Subramanian advised jury members about the racketeering charge, stating that for it to stick, they must be able to establish a spoken or unspoken agreement between Combs and his associates to participate in a criminal enterprise.
They must also believe that Combs participated willingly in the criminal enterprise and committed at least two crimes, which could be sex trafficking, kidnapping, arson, transportation for prostitution, possession with intent to distribute narcotics or bribery, amongst others.
Jury continues deliberation after informing the judge that they have reached a verdict on all counts except one
After the members of the 12-person jury in Diddy’s case informed the judge about the difficulty in the racketeering charge, the judge conferred with the prosecution and defense attorneys in the case who reportedly advised that the jury continue deliberations.
Maurene Comey, prosecution counsel who delivered the rebuttal to the defence’s closing statement, suggested that Judge Subramanian encourage the jury to reconsider their decisions to avoid a mistrial. After meeting with the prosecution and defense, Subramanian directed the jury to continue with their deliberations and said to them:
“You should not hesitate to change an opinion when convinced. Weigh your opinion dispassionately and follow my instructions on the law. Your verdict must be unanimous. Each of you must make your own decision based on consideration of the evidence and discussion with fellow jurors.”
Some minutes after the jury continued their deliberations on the case, they informed Judge Arun Subramanian that they were closing for the day. The judge reminded them to keep an open mind as they reconvened on July 2, 2025 and thanked them for their hard work.
Sean Diddy Combs is charged with five criminal counts—two of sex trafficking, one of racketeering conspiracy, and two of transportation for prostitution. If found guilty of the sex trafficking and racketeering charges, the Bad Boy Records boss will face life imprisonment.
The jury will reconvene on July 2, 2025 to continue their deliberations on the Diddy trial.
