Following the death of French streamer Jean Pormanove, Adin Ross took to his official X account to express his horror and disgust concerning the issues surrounding the Kick streamer’s death.
Adin, who recently finished a streaming marathon with MrBeast to raise 15 million dollars for a water charity project, expressed his and Canadian rapper Drake’s intention to cover the funeral costs of the late Jean.
“This is horrible and disgusting. Whoever was apart of this deserves to face severe consequences. I just spoke with drake. Drake and I will be covering the funeral costs.”
He wrote that while his donation won't bring the streamer back to life, it was all he could do to comfort Pormanove’s family.
“This won’t bring his life back, it’s the least we can do. Prayers go out to Jean’s family,” Adin added with a heart and prayer emoji.
More details on Jean Pormanove’s death
Jean Pormanove, whose real name was Raphael Graven, was a 46-year-old French streamer on the Kick streaming platform. According to reports, he passed away overnight on August 17-18 in Contes, near Nice (Alpes-Maritimes).
Reports say the 46-year-old streamer was subjected to “ten days and nights of torture,” including physical violence, sleep deprivation, and ingestion of toxic products, before his passing.
However, the prosecutor's office hasn't found anything suspicious leading to his death. They shared that the investigation is still ongoing and an autopsy will be performed.
“At this stage, there is nothing suspicious; interviews are underway, and an autopsy will be performed.”
Jean’s passing caused public outrage, with netizens demanding a thorough investigation into his ‘friends’ and the streaming platform.
Clara Chappaz, the France minister for digital affairs and artificial intelligence, released a statement denouncing the ordeal and confirming that thorough judicial investigations are being conducted.
“The death of Jean Pormanove and the violence he endured are an absolute horror.”
Kick streaming platform has received severe backlash from netizens.
@Agtesnx wrote on X: “Look I love adin but he needs to sit down and have a serious convo with the kick CEO demanding full shut down of that platform it's far worse than twitch and all 3 of those guys need to be executed effective immediately.”
Another user @chiefflips tweeted: “Anyone who was watching that type of content and was supporting is lowkey at fault here too…..idk how KICK was allowing that sh*t to go on for that long.”
@HotRevolvR added: “If there was ever a limit to what Kick should allow as content streamed to thousands/millions it definitely should’ve been this! His death is what brought my attention to his platform & the first thing I saw was torture content. The very first thing. That’s insane.”
Kick has not issued an official statement regarding the issue, but they informed the BBC that they are "urgently reviewing" it.
