Bring Me The Horizon's headliner slot at Reading Festival became the weekend's highlight, thanks to an unannounced performance of a Britpop anthem.

Halfway through their set on Saturday night, Aug. 23, the Sheffield rock band launched into their high-octane rendition of Oasis’ "Wonderwall," a cover they first unveiled earlier this year.

Frontman Oli Sykes introduced the night with his high-energy enthusiasm, speaking to the crowd:

“We are Bring Me The Horizon and we’re gonna rock your f***ing world.”

The band then tore through a set stacked with fan favorites, including "MANTRA," "Happy Song," and "Can You Feel My Heart," before closing with the anthemic "Throne."

BMTH's Reading setlist also included: "DArkSide," "Teardrops," "Kool-Aid," "AmEN!," "Shadow Moses," "LosT," and many more.

"Fantastic": Fans praise Bring Me The Horizon’s explosive spin on "Wonderwall"

After BMTH's powerful cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall," social media platforms quickly sparked reactions online.

"Bring me the horizon covering wonderwall just when i thought their performance couldn't get better," a fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
"What a show. Fantastic cover of Wonderwall just now as well. Oasis will be jelous ha ha BMTH version was wayyyyy better idk what anyone says," one commented.
"BMTH smashing it at Reading. MGS throwback was glorious. Even the cover of Wonderwall was genius. Love it!" another chimed in.
"Bring Me the horizon performing Wonderwall is wild #Reading," a fan added.

In addition to the reimagined version, the British rock band's headlining performance also received massive praise online.

"bring me the horizon waving f**k off massive palestine flags during their reading set thats being shown on bbc that’s my f***ing band I love them so much," one said.
"bring me the horizon headlining reading might have been the best staging/set i’ve ever seen?? why was i crying????? loved the analogue horror so much," one said.
"the staging is incredible, I love it sm," a fan stated.
"And THAT is how you headline Reading festival. ‍Bring Me The Horizon, incredible as always. I really hope I get to see them live one day," one tweeted.
"Watching Reading, like me a bit of Bring Me the Horizon but mainly watching to see if I can spot the kids. Anyway, good men. #FreePalestine," another said.

Meanwhile, BMTH's "Wonderwall" cover has already earned the approval of Oasis’ own Liam Gallagher, who earlier this year praised it, saying:

“I f*cking LOVE it.”

Even BMTH admitted they were surprised by his reaction. Drummer Mat Nicholls said in February:

“We were expecting [Liam] to absolutely rinse us, but he said some actually nice things!”

Reading & Leeds 2025 has seen an eclectic lineup so far, with headliners ranging from BMTH's heavy-hitting spectacle; to Hozier, who used his Friday set to deliver a lengthy speech in support for Palestine; and to Chappell Roan, who just made her debut in the country's most beloved music festivals.
