Swedish rock band Ghost has officially dropped a new single, "Lachryma." It is a part of their upcoming sixth studio album, Skeletá, which is set for release on April 25, 2025, via Loma Vista Recordings.

The song dropped on April 11, 2025. It was accompanied by a music video that introduced the band's new frontman persona, Papa V Perpetua. "Lachryma" has generated notable buzz among the band's fanbase worldwide.

This latest release comes after "Satanized," the lead single which was dropped in March 2025. As reports suggest, "Lachryma" features gothic imagery, metal riffs and choruses, and more. The song's Latin title translates to tear, which might be a hint at the song's relatively introspective theme.

Netizens were quick to weigh in on the comment section of the YouTube video as they voiced their reactions to the newly released track. Below are what some of them had to remark:

"This song. This bloody song. This is both pure musical perfection and truly unique. Unfathomably good," lauded a fan.
"Video: creepy as hell. Lyrics: standard post-breakup song. Ghostness: 110%," rated another.
"I'm 51 and haven't had this much fun w/music since Maiden's heyday in the '80's," expressed a third.
"I'm absolutely a fan of the skele-ghoul design. Also, Tobias, EITHER STOP MAKING SONGS THAT GET STUCK IN MY HEAD OR START PAYING RENT," penned a fourth.

Others also chimed in:

"Last October, my father suddenly passed away due to a heart attack and because of that, I have been struggling with my mental health for the past few months. When he was younger, he was a singer and drums player, huge rock and classic heavy metal fan, so he's the main reason why I listen to Ghost today. When "Satanized" was released, it was the first time since October that I felt excited about something and "Lachryma" is continuing the process. Right now, Ghost are a big part of rebuilding myself, with your music you are helping me through the most difficult time I have ever experienced. Thank you Tobias, thank you Ghost, thank you for helping me get my life back on track," commented a netizen.
"So is anyone else as excited as I am that the scary horror flick era is back?!? I love Papa/Ghost in any flavor, but this spooky Papa speaks to my soul!" stated another.
"The beginning riff has the same chord progression as “this is the moment of just letting go” from Life Eternal," noted a third.

Ghost was founded in 2006 by Tobias Forge. Each album cycle of the band introduces a new "Papa" frontman. The current character is Papa V Perpetua, who was introduced earlier this year.
