"One of my most prized possessions": Sabrina Carpenter marks Short n’ Sweet anniversary with heartfelt tribute

Sabrina Carpenter is mere days away from the release of Man’s Best Friend, her upcoming album, but the songstress took a break from promoting new music this weekend to honor a significant milestone.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, the pop star took to Instagram to celebrate the one-year anniversary of her groundbreaking project Short n’ Sweet, which ultimately earned her a Grammy Award for best pop vocal album.

With a montage of photos and behind-the-scenes snippets, Sabrina Carpenter reflected on what the album has meant to her and her fans. She wrote:

“pausing from MBF to say happy one year of Short n’ Sweet. one year of kiss marks, camaraderie, and being so f***ing horny.”

The singer continued with a more emotional note:

“this album is one of my most prized possessions and brought me closer to myself as well as so many beautiful people and places.”

Released Aug. 23, 2024, Short n’ Sweet marked a career high for Sabrina Carpenter, thanks to hit singles “Espresso,” “Taste,” and “Please Please Please.” The album soundtracked a globe-spanning tour that will pick up again in October, just weeks after Man’s Best Friend arrives on Aug. 29, featuring the Billboard Hot 100-topping single “Manchild.”

In her anniversary message, Sabrina Carpenter also thanked fans for their devotion over the past year.

“Thank you for still listening every single day x thank you for coming to the shows and singing till your lungs give out, thank you for loving these songs and every damn lyric as much as i do!”

The "Bed Chem" hitmaker continued:

“Thank you to all my friends i got to make every song with, every video with, create the live shows with. One of the most fun years I’ve had in my whole life. I’ll never take it for granted!!! Love you all infinitely.”

Sabrina Carpenter to perform at the 2025 MTV VMAs

Sabrina Carpenter won’t have long to bask in nostalgia: she’s set to perform at the 2025 MTV VMAs on Sept. 7, alongside Busta Rhymes, Ricky Martin, Alex Warren, J Balvin ft. DJ Snake and sombr.

Further, the pop star is also one of this year's ceremony's top contenders with eight nominations, such as Best Album (Short n’ Sweet) and Video of the Year (“Manchild”).

An insider further revealed that Carpenter will pay tribute to Dolly Parton's Nine to Five — a comedy film that was also headlined by Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda — in her upcoming performance.

“Sabrina is working with her favourite choreographers on the routine that will reference the classic 1980 film."

The source went on:

“Sabrina is very fond of Dolly after she also starred in her video for 'Please, Please, Please.' She is planning on doing a medley of songs at the awards ceremony following her stellar year of hits.”

Meanwhile, apart from her forthcoming VMAs performance, Sabrina Carpenter is also gearing up for a Taylor Swift collaboration, slated to arrive in October.
