Everything we know about Jeff Goldblum, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Scarlett Johansson's upcoming collaboration:
Jeff Goldblum and Ariana Grande worked together on the set of Wicked, and the musician recently sat down for an interview with Billboard News, where he discussed his upcoming fourth album.
Goldblum, who is slated to work with Grande again for Wicked: For Good, shared how he got her, Cynthia Erivo, and Scarlett Johansson to contribute their vocals to his upcoming album, titled Still Blooming. The album, which drops this April 25, will come out on Verve and was recorded with the actor's band of 30 years, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.
“We were at the premiere of [Asteroid City] and on that occasion I got to talking about my musical life,” says Goldblum. “And she said, ‘Well, I’d like to do something.’ And she suggested that song.”
As for Grande and Erivo, Jeff Goldblum says, “I just think the world of them. We were on set and I could’ve been intimidated, but they were so warm,” he says. “Pretty soon I was singing everything from The American Songbook, all of which they knew and joined in.”
According to Billboard, while Scarlett Johansson will be featured as a guest on the lead single, The Best Is Yet to Come, Grande and Erivo will deliver their vocals for a song of their own. Grande will be performing her own version of I Don’t Know Why (I Just Do) for the album, the outlet has reported.
Jeff Goldblum shared that he was singing the song one day with Grande in his vicinity when she recognized it, telling him that her grandfather used to sing it to her often. As for how he tapped Erivo, he shared that he asked her to do him the honor and she agreed, and they collaborated on We’ll Meet Again.
At the time of writing, further details about Jeff Goldblum's mailing list and what it will contain remain unclear.
