BTS’ Jungkook extends record with "Seven" as longest-charting song by an Asian solo artist on Billboard Global 200

BTS' Jungkook just made history again.

The global superstar's smashing solo hit "Seven" has become the longest-charting Asian song in Billboard history, holding strong on the Global 200 for an incredible 115 consecutive weeks.

Per Billboard's latest chart (Oct. 11), the track still sits at No. 132, proving that Jungkook's solo power shows no signs of slowing down. "Seven" also extends its reign as the first and longest-running song by an Asian artist on Global 200, which ranks songs based on streaming and digital sales data from over 200 countries worldwide.

Released in July 2023, Jungkook's "Seven" debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 100 and stayed on the chart for 15 weeks. In the U.K., the track also entered at No. 3 on the Official Singles Top 100, making the celebrity the first K-pop soloist to chart in 14 consecutive weeks.

The BTS vocalist also starred in the official music video, alongside actress Han So Hee. There, the singer is seen trying his best and worst to woo the actress, who constantly avoids him following what a huge fight at a restaurant.

The idol weathers the storms as he serenades the Gyeongseong Creature actress, even climbing onto the moving train’s roof to follow her while he sings:

"Weight of the world on your shoulders / I'll kiss your waist and ease your mind / I must be favored to know ya / I'll take my hands and trace your lines"

He continues with the catchy pre-chorus:

"You wrap around me and you give me life / And that's why night after night / I'll be loving you right"

Jungkook then proceeds to belt the chorus, promising to love his muse "seven days a week."

The K-pop superstar also features the American singer and rapper Latto in "Seven," who appears during the bridge in a funeral scene wherein the singer is inside the casket.

At the end of the music video, after surviving the ordeal, the couple reconciles.

Jungkook’s “Seven” achievements prove its lasting global impact

Meanwhile, Jungkook's achievements with "Seven" continue with its No. 78 ranking on Billboard's Global (Excl. U.S.) chart (Oct. 11), marking 116 consecutive weeks on the list.

With this, the BTS "golden maknae" continues to set unprecedented records as the first Asian solo artist to maintain such longevity.

Previously, the song dominated both charts for seven straight weeks, holding the No. 1 spot for nine consecutive weeks upon its release, a historic achievement in K-pop.

The song's success extends beyond Billboard, because "Seven" has spent 117 weeks on Spotify's Weekly Top Songs Global chart and recently surpassed 2.58 cumulative streams, setting yet another record for a K-pop artist.
