After nearly four years away from group activities, BTS is officially back. All seven members of the beloved K-pop group, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, reunited virtually for the first time since 2022 in a live broadcast streamed on Weverse. They announced that BTS will return in spring 2026 with a brand-new group album and a corresponding world tour.
The Weverse live stream took place on July 1, 2025, attracting over 7.3 million real-time viewers. Members spoke openly about their excitement to reconnect with fans through music and live performances. The group also reflected on their time away during South Korea's mandatory military service.
BTS members stated:
"We will be releasing a new BTS album in the spring of next year. Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music. Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member's thoughts and ideas. We are approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started."
The upcoming album is scheduled for release in spring 2026. It will be BTS's first full-length group album since BE in 2020. The group states that the new project will be created collaboratively. Production is expected to start in July 2025. RM mentioned during the live stream,
"We want this album to be true to ourselves. We are bringing everything we have experienced over the past few years — our time apart, our solo music, military service — back into the music.”
It is worth noting that there is no official title or release date yet. However, more details are expected by the end of 2025.
Fan reactions to BTS confirming a 2026 world tour
Although the tour dates haven't been announced yet, BTS has confirmed plans for a world tour in 2026 to promote their new album. This will be their first global tour since the Permission to Dance On Stage run, which took place from 2021 to 2022 with stadium residencies in Seoul, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. That tour attracted over 4 million fans.
The 2026 tour is expected to commence shortly after the album's release, possibly in mid-to-late spring, and will run through late 2026. A press statement from HYBE called it a "massive world tour."
