Chloe Love, a former Milford Senior High student, has been identified among the five people who died in the Goshen car crash. The accident occurred early on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at approximately 1:43 a.m. in Clermont County, Ohio. The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed the accident involved a collision between two cars that left five dead and one severely injured.
What happened in the Goshen car crash?
The Goshen car crash has taken the citizens of the US by shock. On State Route 28, near Edenton Pleasant Plain Road, two vehicles, a 2005 Chrysler and a 2007 Subaru Legacy, collided. Mathew Penny, 25, driving the Chrysler, was reportedly accompanied by Chloe Love, 19, and Dezmen Jernigan, 18. All three of them were pronounced dead by the Clermont County Coroner's office, along with Dustin McDole, 43, and Andrea Lery, 42, who were in the Subaru.
Per police, McDole was crossing State Route 28 when Penny's vehicle struck it. Following the crash, the two cars went down a nearby ditch. The officials also confirmed that McDole and Lery had their seatbelts on.
A fourth passenger of the Chrysler, Ayden Taylor, 18, allegedly sustained life-threatening injuries. Taylor was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Per WLWT, the crash also had an eyewitness, Kenneth May, who lives near the intersection in Ohio, narrated the horrifying incident. Additionally, May revealed several accidents have occurred at the intersection in the past three decades. May said,
"The car that was going north passed my house at a high rate of speed." "And I just kinda watched it to see if it was going to stop, and it was like a Hollywood movie. I mean, it was like it was scripted. They hit the other car, a loud explosion, and that's about it," he added.
Netizens are mourning the tragic incident of Goshen that took away five lives. Chloe Love's close friends and family have been looking back at their memories with her. Her aunt also penned a heartwarming note after her demise.
She wrote, "What devastation our family faced this morning! My beautiful great-niece was taken too soon. God help her mother, my sister, and everyone who loved Chloe Love wrap your arms around them! Chloe Love wrap your arms around them! Chloe Love."
A relative of Dezmen Jernigan shared her condolences to his family.
Further investigation of the crash is currently underway. In addition to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, several other agencies assisted on the scene: the Clermont County Coroner's Office, Goshen Police Department, Goshen Township Fire & EMS, Loveland/Symmen Township EMS, and Warren County EMS.
