This spooky season, multi-billion dollar conglomerate Starbucks is launching a collaboration with Universal Pictures' upcoming movie, Wicked.
The two drinks, inspired by Oz's duo, Glinda and Elphaba, will hit the menus starting Tuesday, October 22-- but for a limited time only, while supplies last across the U.S., Canada, and select international markets.
An official statement from the company reads:
"Starbucks fans and Ozians are in for a fantastical experience, as Starbucks is partnering with Universal Pictures to celebrate the new cinematic event, Wicked. Through this partnership, the film’s themes of connection, belonging and joy come to life through exclusive Starbucks beverages and merchandise."
All you need to know about Starbucks' Wicked-inspired drinks
Glinda's Pink Potion is a concoction that features a Mango Dragonfruit refresher beverage shaken with coconut milk, ice, and a scoop of freeze-dried dragonfruit. It also comes topped with nondairy strawberry cold foam and colorful candy sprinkles.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the drink, beverage developer Natalia Vasquez said,
"When dreaming up this beverage, we were inspired by Glinda’s bright character and of course her iconic association with all things pink. This colorful beverage is topped with a nondairy cold foam infused with strawberry puree to add even more pops of pink, along with colorful candy sprinkles for a drink that is as vibrant as Glinda herself.”
Elphaba’s Cold Brew, on the other hand, features the brand's Cold Brew sweetened with peppermint-flavored syrup, and topped with nondairy matcha cold foam and green candy sprinkles. According to Rosalyn Batingan, a fellow beverage developer,
"We were inspired by Elphaba’s bold energy and stunning green skin when creating this recipe. Our signature cold brew gets an unexpected twist of peppermint topped with a nondairy matcha cold foam for a touch of Elphaba’s famous green, finished with colorful candy sprinkles.”
Furthermore, the brand is also debuting its Wicked-inspired gift cards on the same day, while on November 7, the Wicked-inspired tumblers will make their debut-- in select stores only. These come in a variety of shades like green, black, pink, and gold for fans to choose from.
Wicked tells the tale of two young women, Elphaba and Glinda. While the former is largely misunderstood, given her unusual green skin, she has yet to discover her true potential.
On the other hand, Glinda is steeped in her privilege and has yet to learn more about her true self.
The two go on to forge an unlikely kin, before setting out on "extraordinary" adventures as they attempt to realize their destinies, with one being Glinda the Good and the other as Wicked Witch of the West.
Wicked rolls onto the big screens on November 22, while part two comes out in U.S. theaters on November 21, 2025.
