The Nike Air Jordan 11 "Bred Velvet" sneakers campaign dropped on November 8, and fans are going ballistic. The kicks are slated to hit the shelves on November 11, and the ad is a nod to the mayhem that will adorn the streets the minute it does.
In the video, uploaded on Instagram by @jumpman23, we get a close-up view of the pair of kicks, and the camera then pans to a long queue. Men can be seen dapping each other up, and children have constructed a makeshift campsite in anticipation of the release.
The video has since gone viral, amassing several likes and comments. Here's what one fan had to say, for example:
"BRB getting my chair ready 🥶⛺️."
Several others expressed enthusiasm at the forthcoming release:
"A NEED. 🔥🔥🔥🔥," one user declared.
"Obsessed with this! ❤️🔥" another asserted.
"TOUGH 🔥🔥🔥🔥," someone else cheered on.
However, the internet was ostensibly more excited at spotting some icons in the shoe industry: Janelle C Shuttlesworth, the cast of The Sneaky Leak Pod, i.e., Henny, Elaina, & Janelle, and Matt Jae, better known online by his moniker, Shoe Hefner.
"😍Ahhhhhh @jcheyenne_@sneakyleakpod in the buildinggg ~ 🤝 we also see you @shoehefner5 !" one fan exclaimed.
"The great @shoehefner5 and @jcheyenne_ ! You guys looking good!!!! @jumpman23 was smart to hit up such professionals," another pointed out.
"WOW RICH @shoehefner5@jcheyenne_," another cheered on.
"Nooo way I saw @jcheyenne_ in this 😮🤩," one fan commented.
"@shoehefner5 let’s gooooooo!!!" another cheered.
Scores online echoed the sentiments. However, others noted that the era of camping out for kicks like the Air Jordan 11 "Bred Velvet" sneakers was no longer a thing and that the "new generation wouldn't understand" the allure it brought with it.
All we know about the Air Jordan 11 "Bred Velvet" sneakers
The Air Jordan 11 "Bred Velvet" sneakers are made for women. A re-imagination of the legendary “Bred” colorway, it swaps out the patent leather mudguard, one of the brand's signatures, for a velvety finish.
Upon release, the kicks are expected to retail for $230 and will be available for purchase around the world via Nike SNKRS, the official Nike website, and select outlets.
The Air Jordan 11 "Bred Velvet" sneakers are most beloved for their backstory. Michael Jordan, the namesake and inspiration behind the entire Jordan line, wore them for the first title run in his second three-peat, ending his brief hiatus.
The black and red version, or the "BRED" version, was first launched in 2019. However, the Air Jordan 11s were unveiled to the world in 1995. Since then, Nike has been sporadically reimagining the shoes with different colorways, leaning on them annually.
