If you've been anywhere on the internet recently, you must have come across the viral "What Space Movie Came Out in 1992" meme. While the search term has become vastly popular, it's not because of how popular the movie is among fans of the science fiction genre.

Simply put, the search term has become popular because of the outlandishly offensive title of the 1992 Danish space movie that pops up whenever you enter the term on Google - Gayn*****s From Outer Space.

The 'What Space Movie Came Out in 1992' meme originally went viral back in 2020, when it was posted with a picture of Walter White from the 'Ozymandias' episode of Breaking Bad.

Since then, the meme has been posted in many different templates, including popular ones of Peter Griffin and warning messages asking users not to google the infamous search term.

While the meme had died down after a while, it resurfaced and became viral again in 2024 after a video of an employee asking its HR to google the term, and her subsequent shock went viral.

What is the plot of the original movie that triggered the 'What Space Movie Came Out in 1992' meme?

The 'What Space Movie Came Out in 1992' meme is based on a Danish short film called Gayn*****s From Outer Space. The movie is a parody film that is a satire of the science fiction and blaxploitation genre.

The movie shows a group of homosexual black men living on a different planet called Anus, who learn of the presence of a female population on Earth.

Since this is out of the ordinary for them, as they do not have any females on their planet, these men come to Earth to eradicate the female population to offer peace to the "oppressed" men on planet Earth.

Once they complete their mission, they educate men about this new way of living and even leave behind a "Gay Ambassador" to keep things in order.

Speaking about the movie, the director, Morten Lindberg, mentioned that the movie has much deeper meanings than what is apparent. The country where he is from, Denmark, is not racism-free. So, he wanted to make a movie on taboo topics in a parody form to break the taboo around those topics.
