In a turn of events, Timothee Chalamet shocked his fans when he made a sudden appearance at his look-alike event held at Washington Square Park in New York. The contest was hosted by the YouTuber Anthony Po.

The Dune star received a warm welcome from the attendees who howled at the top of their lungs on seeing Chalamet. Timothee made an entry in disguise as he wore a baseball cap and hid his face behind a mask before showing up to two lookalikes.

The event witnessed a plethora of Chalamet's doppelgangers who shared a striking resemblance to the actor. The actor even posed for photos with his fans.

The look-alikes choose to dress up as Chalamet’s characters from Dune, Wonka and Call Me By Your Name.

According to the organisers of the event, the winner was promised a prize money of $50.

Timothee Chalamet’s surprising move blew the internet out of proportion. Many fans took to social media to share their opinions.

"This is a moment! Look at all the Chalamets so happy together." One fan wrote on X.
"START TO SAY LISAN AL-GAIB!!!" An X user wrote.
"He felt that his real hero had arrived, it was a very beautiful moment." Another person said.
"Wow that lookalike is really good everyone believes it’s him!" One fan exclaimed.
"I just don’t understand how they knew it was him?? What if he was just there because he looked a lot like Timothee Chalamet." Someone else opined.

Some of the doppelgangers were arrested

The Timothee Chalamet look-alike event turned chaotic when the crowd became uncontrollable. Consequently, the police had to intervene to manage the situation.

As per the Associated Press, the officials arrested a wannabe Chalamet, but didn’t reveal the exact reason behind his arrest. They slapped a fine of $500 on the organisers of the event for an “unpermitted costume contest.”

Reflecting on the bizarre turn of events, a user on X tweeted:

On what basis the contestants were judged?

According to the report, the contestants were questioned about their French proficiency, their plans to make the world a better place and their romantic relations with Kylie Jenner.

Miles Mitchell, a 21-year-old college student from Staten Island was crowned as the champion. He was also awarded a trophy. He was dressed as Wonka as he wore a purple blazer along with a set of cream pants.

Timothee Chalamet will next be seen in James Mangold’s upcoming biographical drama, A Complete Unknown which is based on the life of Bob Dylan. The film is set in the 1960s and is scheduled to release in December this year.

The stellar cast includes Chalamet as Bob Dylan, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, and Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, among others.
