After decades of cinematic misfires, Marvel is finally bringing back The Fantastic Four to the big screen. With the announcement that The Fantastic Four are also going to feature in Avengers: Doomsday, the excitement for the next iteration of the franchise is at a fever pitch, as the movie will set in motion the much-anticipated Phase 6 of the Marvel Universe.
The new poster for the movie has been released and the clock now ticks on for The Fantastic Four: First Steps which is slated to be released in theatres on July 25, 2025.
The Fantastic Four new poster sends fans into a frenzy
This time, Marvel has opted for a minimalistic, no-frills design that gives off serious retro vibes. The poster itself seems fresh out of a vintage comic book and screams entertainment. At the forefront is Marvel's first family and if you squint really hard, you'd also be able to see Invisible Woman, which is always fantastic to see (pun intended).
Of course, no Marvel event has passed without some truly unhinged reactions from the fans. As soon as the poster for The Fantastic Four: First Steps dropped, the internet was instantly divided into two camps: pro versus against the poster. Depending on who you might ask, the poster was described as either a visual delight or a trainwreck, as the poster sparked a wave of reactions on social media:
"No way Marvel made a poster that looks like a Spotify Wrapped story template", joked one fan (via X / @theclipcult)
"Thought this was a reissue of the Weezer album for a second", quipped another (via X / @Alex_Fatemi)
"They're walking through a geometry final", another fan poked fun (via X / @noxlonga)
The poster for the upcoming Fantastic Four movie is simple and absurd in equal measure- it doesn't have a cheesy tagline, no Galactus looming ominously, and no explosions which almost necessitates a standing ovation for Marvel. The simplicity is bold, almost daring you to fill in the blanks with your own hype.
It was not only doom and gloom on social media as some fans applauded the studio for the stunning marvel they had pulled off:
"Wow a poster that doesnt have the cast stacked on top of each other like a Christmas tree??? More posters like this pls", joked one fan (via X / @gayledynasty)
"I can’t exaggerate enough how much i love the aesthetic of this movie", remarked another (via X / @CS11__)
Another fan quipped:
"This poster looks fantastic"
April 4 was taken as a cosmic sign by fans who argued that this was the Universe pointing signs at Marvel to drop the goods as there couldn't have been a better date to release the trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. As soon as the poster dropped, fans rushed to demand the release of the trailer as well- they were convinced that this was a missed opportunity of galactic proportions:
"4-4 day, perfect day to drop a new trailer right?!," wondered one fan (via X / @maxmyers16)
"No new trailer today is crazy", commented another bewildered fan (via X / @EpicRivas)
The incident just goes on to prove that Marvel fans are a notoriously hard bunch to please!
If the release of the poster sending fans into a frenzy proves anything, it is that nothing unites—or divides—people quite like a piece of promotional artwork. The Fantastic Four teaser poster may not have answered any burning questions about the movie in the grand scheme of things, but it succeeded in uniting fans across the globe in hilarious discourse.
May the promotional works for The Fantastic Four keep coming, along with the memes!
