MrBeast jokingly said he "burned down 20,000,000 trees"—of course, not seriously. He shared this as an April Fools' post on April 1. In the same tweet, he quipped about blinding 1,000 children. For context, he's actually a prominent supporter of the #TeamTrees campaign.

MrBeast likely figured his viewers would catch the joke as it was supposed to be an ironic reference to his huge commitment to planting trees. But in all seriousness, we have no idea why he thought this would be a good thing to say, even as an April Fools' prank. And yet, here we are.

The tweet, understandably, went viral in a matter of seconds, garnering millions of views and comments from users who either joined in on the sarcasm or were utterly shocked.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), MrBeast said:

"Proud to announce I’ve burned down 20,000,000 trees! Can’t wait to upload this video 🙌🏻"

Editor for British YouTube group Sidemen, CHiPFAT, commented:

"How many kids did you blind mr beast?"

The YouTuber replied in a tongue-in-cheek manner, stating:

"1,000 so then I have more to cure! 🙌🏻"

Of course, this wasn't a typical conversation for a normal person. Some users were laughing hysterically, while others were completely in shock, wondering if this was really a joke or if it was actually happening—because, at this point, social media is prepared for anything from anyone.

Some felt that the joke was lame and wondered if this was the best that he could do. Others, who did not get the sarcasm whatsoever, were perplexed, stating they thought he was all about tree planting.

Social media reacts as MrBeast jokingly talks about burning trees

Some users were genuinely in disbelief, wondering if this was true and why MrBeast would even do something like that. Unsure how anyone could not recognize an April Fools' joke, but apparently, some folks really did believe it.

Others, on the other hand, saw the humor in it, joking that they were now expecting the sequel—MrBeast transitioning from #TeamTrees to #TeamArson.

A user @lybrti asked:

"Is he for real or is this a joke?"

A user @CryptoFrankkie stated:

"Why would anyone be proud of burning down trees 🌳 😫 what am I missing here 😢 😕 🤔"

One netizen, @AhvhHomedesigns, humorously mentioned:

"Ah yes, the long awaited sequel to Team Trees: ‘Team Arson’ 😂 Can’t wait to see the twist!"

Some of the users who got the joke were wondering if this was actually the best April Fools' prank he could manage. Others were ambivalent, thinking it must be an April Fools' joke but not entirely sure.

Netizens responded with memes, shocked and confused, such as, "Wait, he did what?!"

A user @lybrti added:

"This has to be an April Fools joke right?"

A user @waozixyz went on to ask:

"That's the best you could come up with for April fools? ..."

A user reacted with a meme, asking:

"You did WHAT"

Some of the users joked that they always assumed MrBeast was all about planting trees, but now he's suddenly on a burning rampage. Others sarcastically remarked that the trees deserved it, jokingly blaming the trees rather than him—just in case he really did do it.

While some responded with memes, others jokingly stated that MrBeast has officially become the bad guy.

A user @Official_Ogiis stated:

"Isn't this wrong?.. thought you grew trees."

A user @James_the_166th quipped:

"Those trees probably had it coming."

A user @AutismCapital sarcastically mentioned:

"The irony is that you'd probably get less hate for this than if you planted 20,000,000 trees. 😂"

Another user, @hindenburg_e, hilariously added:

"So you are a bad guy 😂😂😂"

Yet another user reacted with a meme.

Finally, we hope that this was a really bad April fools' joke and that he actually sticks to #TeamTrees.
