In the vast, weird universe of marketing gimmicks, this one might take the (drum)stick. Just when you thought you'd seen it all, KFC decided to enter the oral hygiene game yes, that KFC. The same brand that made gravy-scented candles and chicken-scented firelogs is now out here launching toothpaste. And not just any toothpaste… fried chicken-flavoured toothpaste.

Naturally, the internet did a double take. Was it a prank? An April Fools’ leftover that missed the deadline? Nope. It was absolutely real and even more shocking, it sold out in just 48 hours. You'd think brushing your teeth with something that tastes like your cheat meal would be a hard sell, but apparently, there's a market for poultry-powered pearly whites.

Why the KFC Toothpaste and Toothbrush Went Viral

The announcement dropped like a crispy thigh into hot oil. One moment, people were casually scrolling through timelines, and the next bam! Fried chicken toothpaste.

Part of what made this whole thing explode online was the sheer confusion. People couldn't tell if it was a legit product or an elaborate joke. Spoiler: it was legit. The bizarre pairing of dental care and deep-fried flavour triggered a wave of curiosity, memes, and pure disbelief.

Also, let’s be honest fast food already has a chokehold on the world. Slap a novelty twist on it, and you’ve got instant internet gold. Add in the fact that it sold out, and suddenly, everyone who initially rolled their eyes at it now wanted in.

As always, Twitter (or X, if you're that one person who insists) came through with the commentary. Netizens did not hold back, and the roasts were finger-lickin’ brutal.

One user summed up what many were thinking with a simple but cutting observation:

“Tell me you're fat without telling me you're overweight.”

It’s safe to say subtlety was not invited to this party.

Another chimed in with what can only be described as the collective confusion of the internet:

“Oh this was real? 💀”

We’re all that person blinking at their phone in disbelief. But yes, KFC toothpaste happened in your timeline.

Then came the absolute screamers. A user questioned the entire business model of dental fast food with:

“Why tf would I wanna buy toothpaste from a fast food restaurant 😭😭”

Honestly, a valid question. It’s like getting your heart monitor from Krispy Kreme.

Another user offered this nugget of truth that hit a little too close to home:

“Food addiction is real.”

You know things are getting serious when you’re brushing with what you were supposed to stop eating.

Then someone just cut straight to the chase with:

“Fried Chicken flavoured toothpaste? 😵‍💫”

We don’t know whether to brush our teeth or dip a biscuit in it.

And finally, the internet's most predictable commentary arrived, and it delivered:

“White people ain’t buying this.”

You just know that was followed by a collective nod across several group chats.

In the end, maybe this was a clever marketing stunt that went a little too well. Or maybe just maybe there's a niche of people who really do want to feel like they’re at a KFC drive-thru while flossing.

Whatever the reason, the KFC toothbrush and toothpaste duo did what it was meant to do: confuse us, amuse us, and give the internet another day’s worth of comedy gold.

And while we may not know who’s actually out there brushing their teeth with chicken paste… we do know we’re judging them from a safe, minty distance.
