Jackelin Perez, a 21-year-old woman was six weeks pregnant when she suspiciously disappeared from her home on October 13, 2024.
Auburn police reported that Jackelin Perez had moved to Auburn about 4 months ago and Perez's husband didn't call the police until the morning after she disappeared.
Kolby Crossley, a spokesman for the Auburn Police Department, said that they think Perez's husband returned home 20 minutes after the alleged kidnapping. They said:
“We haven’t ruled him out of a suspect yet, we haven’t ruled out anyone as a suspect. So we’re not necessarily saying he is, but we’re also not necessarily saying he’s not”
Information about Jackelin Perez
According to police reports, Jackelin Perez and her spouse left Guatemala in the last 12 months and her English communication is limited.
Jackelin Perez is described as having a scar on her left cheek, weighing 111 pounds, and standing 5 feet 4 inches tall. If anyone knows where she is, the Auburn police have urged people to contact their tip line at 253-288-7403.
Kolby Crossley, Auburn Police Department spokesperson emphasized that every tip or information about Jackelin Perez was important. Crossley said:
"It could be something really small like you might have seen her on a bus... Even if it’s just a glimpse and you don’t really know, just give us a call, a general location of where you saw the person and we can look into it.”
The Aware Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization posted updates about Jackelin Perez on their Facebook account. They wrote:
"***MISSING ENDANGERED*** AUBURN, WA. The Auburn WA Police Department is actively investigating the suspicious disappearance of a 21-year-old female. Jackelin Perez disappeared on the evening of Sunday, October, 13th, 2024, from her home in Auburn, WA. The Auburn Police Department say their investigation uncovered “credible evidence” that Perez was “taken from her home under duress,” and that they do not consider this a random disappearance. Perez recently immigrated to the U.S. with her husband. She moved here from Guatemala and speaks limited English. Police estimate Perez disappeared between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m."
The Auburn WA Police Department has also posted a missing person update on their official Facebook account. In a similar description of the incident, they wrote:
"The Auburn Police Department is actively investigating the suspicious disappearance of 21-year-old Jackelin Perez, who went missing on the evening of October 13...eDetectives believe there is credible evidence suggesting that Jackelin was taken from her home under duress, and they do not believe this was random. The police are diligently pursuing multiple leads but have not yet located her. The Auburn Police Department urges the public to assist in the search for Jackelin. She is 5’4, 111 pounds, and has a scar on her left cheek. If you or anyone you know has information regarding her whereabouts, please contact the Auburn PD Tip Line at 253-288-7403."
Detectives also said they don't think this was a random crime and that there is solid evidence that Perez was removed from her home against her will. Additionally, the police are calling her disappearance strange. While they are pursuing suspects, no information about Jackelin Perez has come to light so far.
