On November 12, 2024, the detectives of the Indiana State Police found skeletal remains in a wooded property where Amanda Martin was last seen.

Amanda Martin, a mother of three from Indiana, was last seen on September 13 before she was reported missing 11 days later on September 24. Though there is a possibility that the remains might belong to Amanda Martin, it will take 4 to 6 weeks for the forensic examination results to come through. The police have not released much information about the discovery of the skeletal remains.

Sheriff Jerry Goodin also informed the public that they would continue with the investigation to reach a factual conclusion and asked the public to provide them with any information about the case.

"we are saddened by the discovery of the remains discovered yesterday, but we also realize a family can now possibly begin to heal. This is an active investigation, and I personally appreciate the help from our law enforcement partners. Together, we continue to seek a factual conclusion about what happened here. I want to ask if you have any information that would help us with this investigation, please give us a call."

Amanda Martin has been missing since September

Amanda Martin, a 40-year-old mother of three from Southern Indiana, was reported missing on September 24. According to reports, she was reportedly seen walking along the area near Frog Pond Road in eastern Scott County, and the police have been searching for her since then with no success.

According to reports, her family spoke with her last on September 13, but they only reported her missing 11 days later because they thought she was in a treatment facility. The police, during the search for Amanda, feared that her life may be at risk due to mental or medical illness.

On October 22, in an update regarding Amanda Martin’s missing case, the police couldn’t find Amanda despite a ‘diligent investigation’ on the available leads. They informed the public that Amanda’s family had offered a reward to anyone coming up with information on her, and this reward was increased to $1500 on November 4.

On November 12, according to WLKY reports, the police received a call directing them to the remains found at the scene. The police have not released any information on the caller or the circumstances that led to the discovery of the human remains.

The remains were sent to the forensic lab for identification and to find out the cause of death. The police are also trying to figure out whether the body was dumped at the scene because the police and police dogs thoroughly searched the area during Amanda’s missing case investigation. If the remains were indeed there at the time, then the police dog would have discovered it.

According to WLKY reports, Amanda Martin’s family is bracing themselves for the possibility that the remains could be Amanda’s. John, Amanda’s brother, said:

"To think that she might not be here any longer is very tough..."

According to reports, Sheriff Goodin said that they will keep looking for Amanda Martin until the forensic positively identifies the remains as Amanda.

"That's the reason why I say we're waiting for positive identification. We're still working a missing persons case. We're still looking for Amanda Martin. Until we get positive identification we really can't switch gears."

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office released Amanda Martin’s photo. She is 5 foot and 130 pounds with long brown hair.

Anyone with any information on the case is encouraged to call 911 or the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at (812) 752-5550.
