Preston Bell, a 19-year-old man, was recently found dead after being missing over the weekend. Bell was last seen at a residence in S. Brookside on the evening of November 23, according to the police. However, a few days later he was found shot dead in a car.

According to a statement by the Independence Police Department, a witness saw Bell being forced into a vehicle by an unknown person. His family made several attempts to reach him and then filed a complaint.

The vehicle in the complaint was described as a black Chevrolet Malibu. It also has a dent in the passenger door. Later, Bell was found dead in the same car.

When was Preston Bell found dead?

The Independence Police Department issued a statement in which they updated a previous missing complaint of Bell. On November 24, the Kansas City Police Department responded to the complaint of an abandoned vehicle call in the area of Truman Road and I-435.

The officers immediately recognized the car as the same one associated with Bell's missing case out of Independence, Missouri.

"KCPD officers recognized the abandoned vehicle as the same vehicle associated to the Preston Bell missing person case out of Independence, MO," read the statement.

Upon approaching the car, the officers found a deceased male in the backseat with gunshot wounds. Independence Police Department was soon notified about the case.

"KCPD notified IPD of their findings, and IPD Detectives responded to the scene. Once on scene, IPD Detectives confirmed the deceased male was missing person Preston Bell."

In their statement, the police confirmed that the case was being investigated as a homicide. As Bell was supposedly killed in independence, IPD has taken over the investigation. The department has no suspect information yet.

They have also urged anyone with information to reach out to the authorities.

Bell's family members spoke with KMBC 9 News about how they want justice for him. They also revealed that Bell was a graduate of Center High School in Kansas City and was ready to begin classes to become a welder. Netizens are also asking the police department for answers regarding the mysterious murder.

Bell's cousin Nichole Dunfield said,

"I will not stop fighting to find out who did this to him.... I would just tell him, 'I love you. I love you,'" he added.

IPD is now investigating a surveillance video that shows Preston Bell being abducted. More information regarding the case is awaited.
