Megyn Kelly, former Fox News host, is now making waves for taking aim at Jennifer Lopez, accusing the pop sensation of 'ruining marriages' during a Donald Trump rally on January 19. But before we dive into that hot take, let’s talk about Kelly’s first marriage to Dr. Daniel Kendall in 2001, which ended in divorce in 2006.
Megyn Kelly’s first marriage to Dr. Daniel Kendall has always been a topic of quiet speculation, though Kelly herself hasn’t spoken extensively about their 2006 divorce. However, comments she made in later years hinted at challenges she faced in a past relationship, sparking curiosity about her former married life.
In a 2011 interview with USA Weekend, Megyn Kelly shared her thoughts on betrayal in relationships. Referencing disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner’s sexting scandal, she said:
“I feel sorry for his family. His wife doesn’t deserve this. I have been in the position, not with my current marriage, where I’ve been betrayed.”
While Megyn Kelly didn’t name names, the comment left many wondering about the specifics of her first marriage. Later, during a 2013 discussion with Fox Online editor Chris Stirewalt on her Fox News show, Kelly admitted to having been cheated on in the past.
Once again, she refrained from identifying the individual, but the remark led to speculation about whether her ex-husband, Dan Kendall, was involved.
Dr. Kendall, however, has categorically denied being unfaithful. Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2015, he expressed frustration over the ambiguity of Megyn Kelly’s comments. He said:
“I can say with 100% certainty that I was completely faithful to Megyn. When she made that comment about it not being in her current marriage it irritated me a bit because it seemed like she was suggesting it was me. I texted her at the time and she apologized. I think I was a good husband."
He also went on to clarify that the reason their marriage didn't work out was because they were two different personalities. Kendall said:
"I believe working two jobs, the long hours of corporate law and part time news together with my long hours of medical training took a toll on our marriage."
Megyn Kelly's current husband is Douglas Brunt, a writer and historian. The couple tied the knot in 2008 and have been together ever since. They share three children: two sons, Yates and Thatcher, and a daughter, Yardley.
Megyn Kelly verbally attacked Jennifer Lopez
During her fiery speech at the MAGA Victory Rally ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration, Megyn Kelly aimed at Jennifer Lopez, who had shown support for Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
As the crowd gathered at the Capitol One Arena in Washington D.C., Kelly used a significant portion of her speech to criticize J.Lo. Megyn said:
"Speaking of J.Lo, how happy are you that her candidate lost? It's so delightful."
Kelly began targeting Lopez for her support of Harris, just before the November election. Lopez had also defended Puerto Ricans after disparaging comments were made at a Trump rally in New York in late October 2024.
Kelly then expanded her criticism to Hollywood, claiming:
"These celebrities who get up there and try to tell us how to vote… really? I mean like those celebrities who know nothing about anything."
Refocusing on Lopez and referencing her four divorces, Kelly said:
"All J.Lo knows how to do is ruin marriages... She's an expert at that. Why does she have to try and ruin the country too?"
Concluding her remarks, Kelly said,
"So goodbye, J.Lo. It didn't work out for you."
Trump's "Make America Great Again Victory Rally" was held at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The rally also featured performances by Billy Ray Cyrus, Kid Rock, and the Village People.
