Thanks to the quick thinking of Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson), General Hospital’s comatose Lulu Falconeri (Alexa Havins) is still alive to hopefully receive a liver transplant from Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco). Her ventilator malfunctioned and nearly caused her to die. General Hospital co-chief of staff Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) wasn’t happy that Isaiah was the one who saved Lulu, due to potential liability because he was not on staff. But she was even more concerned that the ventilator failed and explained on the October 16 episode that all the hospital’s equipment is meticulously maintained, and the machine shouldn’t have faltered. So the question is, who tampered with Lulu’s ventilator?
Cyrus Renault
On the October 15 episode, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis) found former villain Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) sitting by Lulu’s bedside, reading from the Bible. This isn’t out of the ordinary, as Cyrus has said on a few occasions that he often prayed at Lulu’s side, even when she was at the long-term care facility. Cyrus has previously claimed that he had given up his life of crime and turned to God, even leading group prayer sessions when he was in prison.
Cyrus is too obvious a choice to be the perpetrator. Besides, he has no motive to do any harm to his niece. He has claimed to turn over a new leaf, and whether or not that’s true, his main desire in life is to be in good graces with his sister, Laura. He might have been a drug lord in the past, but he doesn’t seem like he would want to cause Lulu’s death. Cyrus has become the scapegoat for many who jump to the conclusion that he’s done something wrong because of his track record as a criminal, but he is obviously a red herring here.

Jenz Sidwell
General Hospital has been laying the groundwork for Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) to come to Port Charles and wreak havoc. Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) asked Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) whether they brought a “souvenir” back from their mission to extract Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) so he could get tested as a possible match for his sister, Lulu. Brennan informed them that the pilot who helped exfiltrate them from Sidwell’s camp in Somalia was killed and his plane ransacked. Clearly, the villain was looking for the diamonds that his men mined and which subsequently disappeared.
Brennan warned that Sidwell is most likely headed to Port Charles to find his stolen diamonds and is willing to kill to get them. Viewers know that Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) is the one who took them, and she’s next on Brennan’s interrogation list. But Lucky royally angered Sidwell when the villain held him captive and forced him to play a fatal game of poker. Fortunately, Lucky lived up to his name and kept winning long enough for Jason and Anna to arrive and help him escape along with Holly.
Sidwell may have assumed that one of the four took the diamonds and could have targeted Lucky. By showing that he can get at Lulu, Sidwell may have been threatening Lucky to cough up his merchandise. However, at this point, no one but Isaiah realizes that something more than a simple machine malfunction may be afoot.
Sidwell’s coming, and danger lurks around every corner, so hopefully, the heroes of Port Charles will wise up to it and be prepared for a villainous onslaught. Brennan’s on the case, which means Jason, Anna, Lucky, and Holly shouldn’t be caught off guard if and when the villain makes his next move.
