Spring is finally here, and for many years, that signalled the return of an important event on General Hospital: The Nurses’ Ball. Until they officially announce it, fans are left in the dark as to whether the Ball will actually happen. The event disappeared after it happened in 2020 but thankfully returned in 2023. Now, some of the show’s stars have been tantalizing fans with the prospect that it will most likely return again this year.
A special announcement
GH’s Nurses’ Ball is an annual gala that’s a charity for HIV/AIDS awareness and research. Hosted by Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring), who almost always ends up on stage in her underwear to do various mishaps, the even includes a red carpet walk with the players in Port Charles, as well as various dance and musical numbers. It’s been a staple of the show since its inception in 1994, and the cast and fans alike look forward to it every year.
For many actors, it’s a great showcase for their other talents, such as singing, dancing, and other skills that don’t normally come into play — like Mac’s (John J. York) ventriloquism act with his now-destroyed dummy, Mr. Marbles.
The GH official Instagram page first hinted at the gala’s return with a video that was captioned, “Is this thing on?” In it, Lucy appeared and stated, “Hi there, Lucy Coe here with you. I have a very, very special announcement to make, and I really want to do it right. But I don't know much about social media because I have people that do social media at Deception for me. But I really am gonna want to make this announcement to you on social media, so I'm gonna make it.”
Nurse Deanna (Dioni Michelle Collins) came up to her, and Lucy asked, “Deanna, why, why are you in my video?” Lucy had her phone’s camera, and Deanna turned it around, explaining, “Oh, Lucy, I think you have the camera turned the wrong way.” There was some confusion, and Lucy asked Deanna to help her with a special announcement that would occur later.
Amy to the rescue
In the next Instagram video, Lucy stated, “Hi everybody, it's, it's me, Lucy Coe again. You know, I'm really trying to build up my social media followers because I have this great big wonderful announcement to make, and I think I have 2 followers, and I had 4 yesterday, but 2 left, and Deanna swore she would be here today to help me. I have no idea how to do this, so I need some help.” As she was talking, Amy (Risa Dorken) came up behind her and asked, “Did I hear you say you need help with social media?”
Lucy said she did, and Amy remarked, “Well, I'm your girl. I happen to have over 248,000 followers.” Lucy asked for her expert advice on what she needed to do next, and Amy replied, “You need to dance.” Lucy couldn’t believe what she heard and just uttered the word, “Dance,” while shaking her head and looking like she was about to cry at the mere thought.
It was too much
The third Instagram post showed Lucy strutting her funky stuff as she danced all over the hospital. It was captioned, “Amy made me do it. 🪄#abracadabra,” and she was dancing to a Lady Gaga song called Abracadabra.
But after being wiped out from her rigorous dance moves, Lucy laid on the floor and told Amy (who was off-camera), “I don't think this is right. No, I can't do this anymore, you know. We tried things, but no.”
Trina’s singing?

Meanwhile, over on Tabyana Ali’s (Trina) page, she wrote, “A day in the life of a soap actress!! Girl, today was a busy day. I had two episodes and I had recorded a song 😉 I barley had time to sit, but these are one of my favorite days. I love when things are little hectic.”
Along with the post was a video of Ali behind the scenes in the makeup, hair, and wardrobe departments, with a song playing that was clearly her voice. The post got fans excited, with one speculating, “Recording a song? Nurses Ball maybe?”
Odds are, that’s exactly what she recorded the song for, and with all of Lucy’s antics, the Nurses' Ball must definitely be on track. (Revisit the Nurses' Ball's 10 best moments.)
