General Hospital stars Finola Hughes and Nancy Lee Grahn, and other daytime performers, are paying tribute to the late Diane Keaton. The Oscar-winning actress passed away at the age of 79 on October 11.

General Hospital actresses remember Diane Keaton

"What an absolute legend," Hughes (who plays Anna Devane on General Hospital) shared on Instagram. "Her style forever etched in our minds, her comic genius, her integrity to herself. A beautiful life well lived, my heart goes out to her children and family. We will all miss her joie de vivre, RIP lovely Diane Keaton 🕊️

"I love Annie Hall & Godfather, but my two favourites are Baby Boom (I watch it every time it’s on for her chemistry with Sam Shepard, & how damn funny she is) [and] also, Something's Gotta Give! So funny! She’s brilliantly herself. Check out any old snippets of TV interviews, like with Letterman or Carson. She’s just an original, & you can see them enjoy her so much."

Remembering an icon

Hughes's General Hospital co-star Grahn (who plays Alexis Davis) posted, "As a woman who mercifully never married, as I would have given up much of who I am if I had, I’d like to point to Diane Keaton’s self-owned contribution to the world as a delightful, unique, renowned, brilliant artist and devoted mother. Her remaining single may be in good part exactly why she was able to be all that. Just a thought. #ripdianekeaton."

"Oh, I loved Diane Keaton," Dove, who played Connie on DAYS, shared on Instagram. "As a teenager, on the walls of my room alongside my Tom Cruise Top Gun poster were my Baby Boom and Crimes of the Heart posters. She mesmerized me with every performance. One of my favorites was Something’s Gotta Give. The 'this is heartbroken' speech Erica gives to Harry makes me cry every single time.

"I know people always talk about Annie Hall, but she had so many performances worthy of praise: Looking for Mr. Goodbar to Book Club, and everything in between. My God, she had so much range.

"I adore how she embraced her quirkiness," Dove adds. "I love that she was often openly insecure. I believe she became even more beautiful as she aged. She shared about having great loves, but had no regrets, remaining single. She really seemed to live life with joy and on her own terms. I will miss her. Thank you, @diane_keaton. Your life and work have had a profound impact on me. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us."
