General Hospital: Best of the Week, August 18 to August 22, 2025

Welcome to the Best of the Week for General Hospital, where we highlight some of the week’s standout moments, scenes, notables, quotables, fashion, and more!

GENERAL HOSPITAL’S BEST OF THE WEEK

MOMENTS

Josslyn is traumatized after shooting a man to save Vaughn's life on General Hospital | Image: ABC

Vaughn finds Josslyn in the shower

Eden McCoy and Bryce Dufree's performances were simply sublime in this scene. Without one word of dialogue, they conveyed the intensity and heartbreak of the situation. Josslyn is slowly finding out she won’t be able to outrun her trauma and is eventually going to have to decide whether being in the WSB is something she can live with or not.

Spinelli talking to an unconscious Maxie at the hospital

Hospital bedside scenes are always emotional, but when Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) somberly pleaded, “So, you see, Maximista, you have to wake up because you are irreplaceable in so many ways”, it was a swift emotional gut punch. Sometimes, it only takes one word to represent years of history. Spinelli nicknamed Maxie, Maximista almost two decades ago, and when he used it so endearingly in this scene, it was like paying reverence to the love they have carried for each other throughout their entire adult lives.

Felicia talking to Anna in the hospital

Not gonna lie, it took me more than a moment to stop crying from the emotional weight of this scene. Felicia (Kristina Wagner) reflected on the miracle of Maxie’s life and everything she had lived through and worried it was all about to end. “I just keep remembering when Maxie was six…I got that miracle”, she said to Anna, “What if that miracle has run its course?” The history of Maxie getting BJ’s heart, as well as Kristina Wagner’s own lived experience with grief, showed in Felicia’s face as she shared every parent’s worst fear with Anna.

SCENES

In the heat of their argument, Nina lunges to attack Carly but falls in the pool instead on General Hospital | Image: ABC

Nina falling in the pool

These scenes felt random and a bit trite, but the actors pulled them off anyway. The argument, Carly’s (Laura Wright) rapid-fire truth bombs, the spectacular fall in the pool, flailing in two feet of water, Gio (Giovanni Mazza) holding a towel out for Nina (Cynthia Watros) who came out of the pool with one shoe, Nina randomly acknowledging the waiter who was staring…all absolute perfection!

Martin proving that he wasn’t Drew’s whipping boy

It was so delightful to watch Martin tell Drew, “I’m your lawyer, not your whipping boy,” and see him not yield to Drew’s money or bullying, even after he got fired. A look of disdain and disappointment came across his face as he fully realized Drew would use anybody in his quest for vengeance. Michael E. Knight played these scenes with a quiet maturity that gave Martin a rare gravitas he doesn’t usually get to have in most scenes.

Lulu finds common ground with Liesl and Brook Lynn

Honestly, if someone stole my embryo and kidnapped my baby or drugged my husband to try to seduce them, I don’t think I’d be too compelled to even say hi to them at the grocery store, but, hey, maybe I’m too rigid. Nonetheless, Lulu is in a position where she needs to make peace with Liesl and Brook Lynn. Unfortunately, the impetus for peace is Maxie’s collapse, but at least it’s happening. I’m happy to see that there have been more scenes where Lulu gets to express some of the pain caused by what she has been through because, to this point, I feel like they have only tapped into a fraction of Alexa Havins' talent.

Kristina’s smackdown of Willow

I realize Kristina has made more than her fair share of colossal mistakes, but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t right about everything she said to Willow. What would possess Willow to think it was a good idea to ask Kristina to testify against her own brother is anybody’s guess. Kate Mansi’s delivery was pitch-perfect when unleashing Kristina’s ire upon Willow, who just doesn’t seem capable of truly accepting responsibility.

NOTABLES

This week's notables include Drew, Cody, Tracy, Alexis, Ric, Laura, Lulu, and beautiful flowers on General Hospital | Image: ABC

Credit to Cameron Mathison…he’s been ramping up Drew’s unhinged behavior and has gone all-in to make Drew truly hateable. He’s starting to remind me of one of those Disney villains who keeps getting bigger and louder with their out-of-control rage until they finally meet their demise.

Whether Alexis and Ric are sniping at each other or trying in vain to peacefully coexist, Nancy Lee Grahn and Rick Hearst have an amazing chemistry that is always fun to watch.

I need, at least, one scene a week with Cody (Josh Kelly) & Tracy (Jane Elliot) and their lovely friendship.

Laura (Genie Francis) & Lulu (Alexa Havins) continue to have beautiful, heartfelt mother-daughter scenes.

Shout out to the General Hospital florist…the flower arrangements Liesl and Kristina brought to Maxie were gorgeous.

Carly’s Belted Floral Halter Midi Dress in Prussian Blue by Donna KaranThis one deserves a closer look because it’s way cuter than it looked on TV.

Bonus points for the matching shoes and polished stone necklace (Side note: Nina was wearing the same blazer in pink when she fell in the pool. It’s likely really pretty in real life, but it just didn’t pop off the screen like the turquoise.)

MUSINGS

Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is proving to be a pretty awful person, but his facial expressions when talking with Drew were hilarious.

Who knew Jason (Steve Burton) had nice resort wear suits hiding in the back of his closet?

Does the Five Poppies not have a front desk?

Drew has turned making enemies into an art form. As I don’t think it would be satisfying to have only one person take him down, I think the fair and equitable thing for the writers to do is to have Drew publicly flogged at Rice Park by every single person he has wronged. Just a thought.

If I had a dime for every time Drew or someone else said he was a congressman, I could pay for the lanai of my retirement dreams.

I thought it was a cute idea to have a scene where Molly’s romance story was being played out in her imagination. I also love the reference to One Life to Live with the character names, Clint Buchanan and Delilah.
