"Unfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected. The upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand are cancelled. One of the last things I’d ever want to do is disappoint my fans.I really appreciate the support you have shown and know that I will do what I can to give u an exceptional experience when the time is right. Thank you."

Ticket refunds for the canceled shows will be automatically processed by authorized vendors such as Ticketmaster. Those who may have purchased tickets via third party vendors, may however need to contact said vendors for refunds.

Childish Gambino previously canceled his North America and Europe tour dates

Childish Gambino previously canceled his North America, continental Europe, and UK tour dates for the same reason of recovery from surgery. The singer stated at the time on X:

"After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent. After being assesed, it became clear i would not perform that night, and after more tests, i could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked. As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal."

The singer continued:

"My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform."

This cancellation of the tour was preceded by the singer postponing his North America tour due to physical health issues in September 2024. The singer's tour faced production issues in August 2024 as well.

The now canceled tour was in support of Childish Gambino's new album Bando Stone and The New World, which was released on July 19, 2024 via RCA Records. The album will be followed by a film of the same name, which is being directed by the singer himself. The singer will star alongside Jessica Allain on the film.

The new album is the last project under the Childish Gambino name by Donald Glover. He stated in an exclusive statement to The New York Times on July 19, 2024:

"It really was just like, ‘Oh, it’s done.’ It’s not fulfilling. And I just felt like I didn’t need to build in this way anymore...Success to me is, honestly, being able to put out a wide-scale album that I would listen to. For this album, I really wanted to be able to play big rooms and have big, anthemic songs that fill those rooms, so that people feel a sense of togetherness."

The singer also stated that other considerations, such as the decline in album sales, the growing costs of touring and a desire to focus on his own family life also played a role in his decision to retire the moniker of Childish Gambino.
